It's of interest to me, as a glasses -wearer, that none of the gentlemen in the photograph are wearing any kind of corrective glass on their faces.

Anyhow, here is a slightly-tweaked version of the photo -

Just returned from a funeral and my wife commen that everyone in our (ancient) age group wore glasses. We were the two exceptions of a hundred people or so. (Of course we use readers) Iā€™ve wondered at that, whatā€™s the cause?

. . . why in the photo of the Irish Eight and English Eight, are there more than 8 people? . . . .
As Fleener notes, pictures sometimes include Captain, reserves, or others associated the team management. The Captian of the Irish team in 1888 was the Duke of Abercorn, but in his absence Doyle spoke on his behalf in the post match speeches, so he may have been Vice-Captain or Adjutant. Sir Henry Wilmot was the Captain of the English Team

Well a Gibbs is certainly a great rifle to play with and are very accurate.

Take a look at the Creedmoor 150 Facebook page. Rick Weber host an annual match that we shoot out to 1,000 yards. Get your rifle up and and running and come shoot with us. No worries about being new, you will gets lots of help.

Thank you!! I will look into that.

I just joined the group Fleener. Thank you, I am open to learn. On shooting other types of firearms, I think I can hold my own at 100 to 300 yards with cartridge guns.. BUT, I think this shooting is way above what I do. Sounds like a blast. Seeing the "Research Press" web page helps a lot. David showed me that, great information. I really look forward to this!!

I bought a Whitworth Parker Hale around 1980. very low serial number. I am thinking about selling it. Does anybody know what it's worth today ? I live in Utah.

This bullet has outshot all Whitworth Hex and even his Cylindrical bullets out of original molds. Itā€™s a swaged PP bullet, shot in countless rifles (20?) at Friendship (500yds) & Oak Ridge (1000yds) over the decades..
We believe itā€™s all in the thin skirt base design (530gr) that makes it work.
Photo same bullet, bullet on left was recovered from a shot falling short at Oak Ridge from 1000 and ricochet thur the target and into the berm behind - The target puller went up on the berm to dig it out after the relay.
Good luck.

That's a beautiful P/P bullet. Is it a .45 ?
I'm after something the same in that caliber.
Thanks for posting šŸ‘
