Here's a Spanish notch on a Spanish (Belduque) knife.

Yep, a nice one too. Here is one I came up with in the eighties. I have used it on maybe a half dozen blades.

That's a mighty looksome blade.. Here's another'n. A Spanish notch really dresses up some blades, especially big ones...that's just my opinion.

A recent thread on trade knives reminded me of this knife, and several others, I have. I have bought these at rendezvous and other events. They are quite reasonable in the $15.00 to $25.00 range. The blades are chlorine treated for aging effect. I think they are quite attractive knives and they have proven servicable, especially for the money. I see them often, the maker must turn them out very fast or have helpers. Anyone know who the maker is?

Been using one of the small ones for some time now as i patch kinife. I LOVE it. Sharp as heck and keeps a very good edge. Plus they just look darn nice....Mick

Bought 4 at Friendship last June. All marked DMP. Seller said blanks made by David Palmer. seller had a chest with drawers of various sizes of blanks aged and stamped. Do not know if Mr Palmer or vendor completed the knives with maple handles. VERY WELL MADE-VERY SHARP, AND VERY FAIRLY PRICED. notches on blade not important to me. Read somewhewe long ago that notches could be used to catch opponants tip (if lucky)long enough todeflect his swing and trip or hit him with your other hand -or gut him with second knife. Probably a myth but the notch WILL catch and snap a point Gave 2 of my 4 knives to friends-Mentioned the notch myth and friend 2 promply caught friend 1's tip and snapped it off clean. Never said that they were too smart-By the way-the vendor at friendship was 2 Bucks Traders Langsville Ohio. Ihave No connection to his business-just answering your inquiry Hope this helpsJWL-Alabama

Wick,

That knife will be a Legend!!! It is FANTASTIC!!!!

That knife will live forever! Amazing sheath also!

I buy at least one every year from the guy at Friendship. Sometimes I just buy the blades themselves and put my own scales on. Good for blanket shoots or gifts. The blades alone are from 10 -15 bucks. I think several people sell them. I've seen them at trad archery events too. They keep a nice edge.

Those knives with mp on them were made by Marv Palmer. The knives marked dmp are made by his son Dave. Excellent value! Marv went by the name cheap charlie when he was actively making knives.
