or somebody make a good Rev War movie? I'm watching Glory (again), and wondering why no one has made a good movie yet about this subject that compares. :(
The Patriot doesn't count as it's largely fictitious. All the rest seem to fall into the PBS low budget category. Man, if someone were to read Joseph P. Martin's diary... :shake:

You're wishin' to the choir WaH. There's just no money in it. One of the best movies (albeit Dated) is a movie starying Jack Lord. it was made back in the fifties, and was filmed almost entirely in Williamsburg. I spent a week at Colonial Williamsburg, and the movie played CONTINOUSLY on their station. It's not military, but it's a nice piece all the same.
I agree with you that we need a Gettysberg/ Glory quality Rev war film. I'm pay extra to see. :thumbsup:

I personally feel that the vast majority of Americans could care less about our history.
The reason you and I are here is because we do care about such things.
Hollywood dishes out clap-trap that Americans will pay out big dollars to see, and then don't forget the overseas market after the release here in the U.S.
I did work as an apprentice for a while in a historical village demonstrating 18th century gunsmithing. By far most of the visitors were there for the entertainment rather than the education or learning about our nations history.
An accurate depiction of history would be rather dull for most Americans. They would rather see huge amounts of blood and gore accompanied with super fast car chases, skimpy clad women, and gratuitous sex.
Just my opinion and it's worth just what you pay for it.

Regards, Dave

1. Defy Authority
2. Take peoples' clothes off
3. Destroy Property"

Simple fact of life is most of even the good historicl movies made lost money at the theater.A recent poll found more (by a vast magority) people knew the names of the 5 main characters on the show "Simpsons" then the 5 guarentees in the first amendment of the Constitution. Heck most out there don't even have a good idea of when n where the Rev War took place. Ask a few friends(not into our hobby) how long n what years the Rev War was fought. Bet ya most don't come close.Ask them what the first two amendments are all about n I still doubt most will know. Its sad that more people from overseas know n understand our history and what America stands for then the people living within its borders.Sooo with this lack of interest the movies are not worth produceing. No interest, no money (profit) no movie- simple YMHS Birdman

Rev. War does 2 outta 3. I'm thinking if Sandra Bullock could play Betsy Ross taking a bath, it could work. :thumbsup:

Well they did 2 out of 3 in the Patriot. :haha:

Just like Star Wars III and The Wedding Crashers out sold ALL three of the academy nominated homosexual films.

Hollyweird has thier own, low moral, anti-American agrenda.

Rev war wont fit into their ideals of what history was about.

I heard the great book "1776" is being considered for a movie. That would be a great movie it done half way decent.

Hollywood is in the business of Entertaining, and Making Money. The project you seek Hollywood would not make MEGA MILLIONS, and that is the reason it will not ne made. Simple as 1, 2, 3. Money, Money, and More Money. :applause:

My wife and I recently picked up the George Washington mini-series from the early 80's on eBay. We liked it.

I thought the Crossing was prety good. The guy playing Washington realy nailed it.
Old Charlie

If Hollywierd did a flick on the Revolution, it would attribute the Revolution to:

1) Love triangle involving some woman played by an actress with the beauty of Sandra Bullock or Nicole Kidman and two Georges (the King and Washington type George).

Gratuitous scenes would include:

2) Ox drawn wagons flipping into the air and exploding;
3) Fast ship (11 knots at full sail) blowing up;
4) Soldiers not only spooning on a cold winter's night but do unspeakable acts unfit for the prying eyes of children;
5) Fast firing muskets that never need to be primed or reloaded, and;
6) Young dashing hero with empty musket doing a Jet Li routine and using the musket as a pike, defeats a company of Redcoats.

Yeah, that was pretty good for a made-for-TV movie. Unfortunately, if you read, and believed, 1776, the battle scenes weren't exactly correct.

Hey, you gotta problem with sandra or Nicole?

One of the georges would have to played by George Clooney!

No, either actress would do nicely for the Hollyweird flick on the Revolution. As for George, George C. Scott could be the benevolent, august and serene King George.

I believe Mr Scott is six feet under at this time, so he would be really serene.

So they prop him up and make it look like George is asleep on the throne. Perfect! :rotf:

Well let's see..... Defy athority, did that when we decided to tell king George where to go... Destroy property.....I think that was accomplished by both sides on the frontier theatre and lastly......take everyone's clothes off, Gen. Washington's troops sacking the Hessians after crossing the Delaware. Think that just about covers it. :grin: :grin: :grin:
