Wife's 1st time M/L shooting

Vearl here on the Forum sold me a T/C Renegade & a Lyman .54 cal Great Plains pistol.

I picked them up for my wife who shoots but had, until today, not shot Muzzleloader.

She shot the pistol 1st. Her first shot was a bit wild, 2nd was in line but 8" low. 3rd was one inch from the 2nd. She ask if I could move the sights up. I did,6 clicks, next two shots were an inch below the 4"x4" square (bulls eye) & 2" apart. This was all off-hand, standing, at 45 feet.

Then she asked if I could move the target out :shocked2:

Her next 5 off hand shots were within an 8" group, again off hand standing, this time at 45 YARDS!

I just flat could not match her shooting. But I'm so happy she had fun. She shot the T/C .54 as well & shot fine off shooting sticks. She liked the rifle but LOVED the pistol.

Asked about hunting with it. I thought it was funny until she started hitting at 45 yards :shocked2:

Sean, man-law states:

When she's not looking thee man must "adjust" said sights. First a little this way, next, that way, and repeat until she says you, the man of the house, are a better shooter. Then you beat your chest once for each time you have moved the sights without here knowing. The more effort you put in the sweeter the victory!

This seems to conflict directly with the rule; anything SHE likes We can spend $money$ doing.

I'm ok with her being the better pistol shot, because it will mean she won't ask "how much?" when the box from powder inc. shows up in 3 or 4 days :wink:

Bow or gun, my wife kicks my hind end in shooting. Doesn't even seem like she's trying that hard. Just a natural, I guess. But I don't mind.

It is a great joy to have a wife who can share your interest in the outdoor sports. Mine loved fishing from the day I introduced her to it and she frequently puts me to shame. As far as guns are concerned,during her career working in banks, there were a few occasions she ended up looking at the wrong end of a barrel. She has learned to tolerate mine & encourages me to hunt, so it isn't all bad.

My wife had never held a firearm until she married me. Now, 16 years later, she owns a .50 flintlock rifle, a .54 Kentucky pistol, and a .44 cap and ball revolver. She was the only one in our household to get a deer during Oklahoma's muzzleloader deer season this year and last week she told me she wants me to build her a flintlock fowling piece! :shocked2: Having the wife interested in shooting sure does make it a lot easier to convince her we need to order another case of powder!

You are a lucky man, congrats!
My search radius was expanded to 2100 miles to find a lady that like the outdoors like I do. In six years she has out done me with taking an antelope, a moose, two elk, a bear, three whitetail, two mule deer and has caught two more steelhead than me this year.

I have double wrapped my mancard in tinfoil (shiny side in) and locked it away in my safe.

here goes: many women are better shots than men. they tend to be more patient, have better fine muscle control, and they actually listen when given instructions.

I would be willing to hazard that drill instructors will confirm this. in the future, when women are allowed into combat roles, we will see the gals doing mischief on our enemies at greater ranges and in greater numbers.

Many instructors will confirm that woman make better students. For what think they don't have the tough macho attitude many men do where you can tell them how to shoot cause it's a man thing. I saw a shooting show where they were shooting 22s off hand. They definitely outshoot guys there. They can place their elbow into their hip for better support. Also most woman didn't grow up shooting so haven't developed bad shooting habits yet.

We, who haves wives that shoot are the luckiest men in the world. My name is Neysa's husband at most shots we go to and I could not be prouder. Don't let other men tease you either, if your wife is out shooting you she is out shooting other men too! Be proud and teach her everything you can.
