THE WOODS OF S.C.
I need a little knowledge please, I have a rifle with a M&G classic flintlock that I am not crazy about. I like chambers locks. will any of the chambers locks fit in the place of my lock without any major wood modification? it has a Davis #4 trigger set trigger. thanks for your help!

If you don’t want to modify wood you can make the Chambers Gunmaker’s Flintlock fit almost any stock.

But getting the sear bar and proper pan alignment with two different locks might not be as easy as shaping a lock plate to fit a mortice.
It might be easier to find someone who can tune the lock for you. Brad Emig/Cabin Creek does such work.
I've used several m&g locks ,and never thought they were lacking

The M&G classic is smaller than the Siler. Basically, about the same size as a small Siler with the the nose a bit longer.
Depending on how much lock panel you have, it might work, but a lot of work.
Dont think the gunmakers lock will help. It’s too big As well.
The M&G is a good lock with a little TLC.
