FOR SALE William Moore 10 bore double

Here’s a pretty standard double gun by William Moore. The stock has been repaired, but is solid. The left lock is crisp in the action, both positions, but the hammer is a little loose on the tumbler. The right lock does not catch in either position due to a broken sear nose.

Both locks are complete with good strong springs. Repair the broken sear and it should be back in business. Bores are kinda grimy but should clean up really nice. No pitting. Solid ribs.

With a little work this would make an awesome duck blaster that you wouldn’t be afraid to tote through the woods.

Nice ramrod with good ends.

I have one of these that is marked 10 on the bottom of the breech area. A bit heavier than yours at 12 lbs. Bores are actually 9 ga. Ten-gauge wads just fall down barrels. (9 work fine). Seeing yours is stamped 9 I suspect it is larger. Great gun .

I am assuming the number 9, or I guess it could be a 6, was an assembly number.

These barrels have Birmingham proof marks from 1855-1868 range, and the 10 would have been the bore measurement at time of proofing. They could have definitely been cleaned up or reamed over the years, though. I can get an exact measurement if you are interested. I got this as part of a trade, and I do not need another project on top of the 3 I currently have going.

I have to many projects as well. And at last count I have like 8 0r 9,12 gauges a few 14 gauges and the 9 gauge. thank you
