I have a lock with WILSON 1821 stamped behind the ****, a sitting fox encircled stamped just below and slightly to the left of the pan and internally the only stamp is a W just left of the mainspring bend. Would anyone have any info or a source where I could look?

Sounds like you have an English lock made by Wilson for a trade gun. The book ' For Trade and Treaty' has good info as does 'The Encyclopedia of Trade Goods Firearms Volume 1' from the Museum of the Fur Trade.

When I bought this smoothbore, it was suggested (not claimed) that it was a Curly Gostomski firearm. There is no other markings on the internal side of the lock other than the stamped W. No markings of any kind on the barrel. The barrel does measure .691 making it, I believe a 14 GA.
Pictures please. I would like to see all the rifle.
