So ive been putting a few additional coats of tru-oil on my GPR the last few days. I really like the tru-oil but dont like the high gloss finish it leaves. Ive been whiskering this back in-between each coat with 0000 steel wool, but this is almost to rough.
Soooooo, last night I was going through my tub-o-blackpowder gear and come across a jar of wonder lube 1000 plus. Im reading the back and notice they say to pretty much coat the entire gun "beautifies and protects oil finished stocks". So what the hell, Ill try it on a test spot.
I rub a little in near the butt plate, wait a half hour, and buff it off with an old t-shirt, low and behold the shine is gone. So I do the whole stock, and it made a real nice satin finish.
Anybody else ever try this?
