my sitting fox flinter is almost done ! aside from a couple of boo boo's the stock looks great the browning is't taking to the barrel as dark as i would like(followed instructions to the letter with 4 coats),but is still pleasing to see. i am hopeing it will darken a little more when i oil it like blueing usually does. if i can figure out how to post a good picture on this forum i you will get to see what all of your guidance has helped me with . :thumbsup:thanks

Is this the .50 caliber York gun you spoke about on another thread???

You can PM or email me the pictures and I will be happy to post them for you...

this gunis a .45cal lancster with a metal patch box and carved stock. my father in law had the butt stock precarved before it was sent :youcrazy: :nono: :nono: which created even more work.after i finish this rifle i am going to take a break and go huntin a couple of weekends before i start on the .50 cal york .its got a wooden patch box and the stock will be plain i might try a couple of inlays but they will be simple if i do.

the barrle for the york arrived just this week .l.c.rice sure builds a nice swamped barrel.it looks like it was worth the wait,i hope itshoots as good as it looks

:master: it is done :master: she's not as purty as some of the rifles i have seen on this forum, but she shure shoots !!! i hevent shot a flinter in twenty plus years and that one was so pokey it turned me off of flint locks.
i wasn't too impressed with the way the underlugs were put on this green mountain barrel and was afraid i might have messed up on the touch hole liner but all fears were gone when that hammer fell and she smoked immediately :shocking: words can't describe the joy i felt when i looked at the log i was shooting at showed my four shots were whithin two inches at twenty yards without even trying!!!
i will send pictures as soon as i can
mrs brushbuster says i gotta catch up on the honey do list before i can start on the york :nono: :boohoo: :boohoo:
thanks again for your help   :master: :master:
