Wood/Steel Core Ramrods

This outfit advertises wood ramrods with a steel core that are "virtually" indestructable. They are somewhat expensive. Has anyone tried them out?

I'd thought :hmm: of doing this a few years ago,glad to see it really works.I don't think the price is far off for what you get.It makes a good working rod and still appears to be HC. :thumbsup:

Never tried one myself, but I have a
friend, I trust, and he swears by his. Also
I understand that they can be made to look
preatty PC, if that's important to you.M2C

An HC looking rod on the outside, modern steel on the inside.....sort of like the "coil spring" thing in mass produced locks...out of sight, out of mind.

Sharpshooter,
From "Arcticap's" link it would appear
that both ends are male connectors. However,
one end is 8/32 while the other end is 10/32
which would allow for most any adapter at one
end or the other.

I was having trouble with the ramrod that came with my rifle. The caps kept coming unglued. So, I went to the shop and got 29 inches of 3/8 brass rod with a 10-32 tapped hole. It's not particularly light, not particularly period, but it works.
