I've never seen a supplier for frames. They are fairly easy to make and there are couple of different types of frames. Making them comfortable is the toughest part. I made one years ago and never used it because I just couldnt figure out how to use it without torturing myself. I still have the frame but have scavanged the straps and what not for other projects.

I googled wooden pack frame and found this.... All you would have to do is add a canvas bag and your done.... http://books.google.com/books...sig=a0JbBb5dxAQcCPsBHfSTwqI4Wzw#PPA55,M1

I made one a couple of months ago. Look up Alaskan Pack Frame, pack frame, and pack board, and read all that you find.
Basically, I made mine with a combination of features of the Alaskan pack frame and the US Army pack board of the WWII era. Really hard to make - took me all of two hours. LOL That includes time to paint it with some left-over green housepaint.

I'm getting on in years, but I still prefer to hunt the backcountry. I can no longer drag out a whole big buck. Those two wheeled deer carts don't work well on steep mountainsides and in thick timber. I'm in the south now, where we seldom get snow, so I can't use my old toboggan that I had made when I lived in Michigan. So, I made the pack board, thinking I will quarter whatever big game I take, and pack it out in pieces.
Since I was fully prepared, naturally this year I never fired a shot!

I have one of those trapper nelson packs, made years ago by Jones Tent and Awning in Vancouver. For many years they were the only packs you saw in the back country. I find them way more comfortable than all the modern designs, and if you have to pack an outboard or some such, you can easily detach the bag and lash the whatever to the frame. Packed this year's moose out in quarters on one. You still see them around from time to time. You might check ebay, and I'll keep my eye out for ya.

You could make a really primitive one with these directions. http://www.primitiveways.com/pack_frame.html

Keep the load light and it's fairly comfortable.
