Well, I have been rained out of two woods walks thusfar...so nothing to report on that topic. I'll have to wait until April for the next.
I did get to shoot last weekend, the group I visited had a great covered shooting platform, and even though it was raining cats and dogs the entire afternoon, I managed to shoot OK.
My first shot was a misfire, and I had to pull the ball. I think I turned my rifle over when priming on the line and got a drop of water in the touchhole, I tried 3 times to set it off - the last time before I pulled it I almost burned my face off there was so much powder in the pan
Anyways, that was my first experience with a flinter in the rain, and I didn't have another misfire in 20 more shots. Despite having water streaming down my face, I managed to shoot OK, and I learned a lot about shooting in wet weather. I think I could manage a woods walk in light rain, but not the downpour we were shooting in last week.
The guy next to me was leaving ragged holes in the 10 ring at 25 yards after 5 shots, in the pouring rain, so I know shooting flinters in the rain can be done.
