Wrought Iron with steeled poll and file bit

Pretty simple hawk/axe made from wrought. We jump welded a piece of 1065 on the face of the hammer poll. heat treated it like a hammer. The cutting edge was a piece of old black diamond file. If you look close you can still see the file teeth in the weld..

Very nice! You just answered a question I had about WI wagon wheels: did they weld spokes to the WI wheel. I guess they did!

Its when two seperate pices of material are brought to welding heat then placed into position and forge welded together.. :thumbsup:
