Zeroed my .50 New Englander Today

This rifle has Remington centerfire rifle sights, the slider had slipped. Distance is 78 yards. Fired one round that landed about 4.5"high, adjusted the sight and fired a second round and tightened the slider.

Minute of pig. Will hunt with that rifle during doe season.

Congrats on the new rifle. It’s best to shoot a group of 5 and see how tight the grouping is. That way you can tweak the powder charge or the load, thicker or thinner patch of RB, with or without an OP wad if it’s a connical. Work up your load properly and you will know you can trust it. And you can adjust your sights for the center of the group. With only shooting 2 shots, who knows where it’s grouping. Your sights could be set on a flyer, or the extreme right side of the group, meaning the next 4 could be 2 feet to the left. You’d never know without shooting a group.

The barrel on that rifle was purchased about five years ago: It has taken 5 or 6 deer. For $100 i got a barrel with a perfect bore and Remington rifle sights. These sights are far better than anything TC ever put on a rifle.

The screw came loose and the sight slid up the ramp. It was restored to it's proper position.





Most shots on deer and hogs are from blinds and stands at <60 yards.

It's not ready to go hunting until you have a group of five shots that are minute of pig.

While I don't know you or your methods, I will have to concur with others above. A little more time behind the sights with that load before heading into the field would be appropriate IMHO. Either way, good luck out there and bring home the bacon!
