I'm selling a Miruku Springfield 1864 to a guy I know in VA. I'm going to transport it down to him (He lives near my son so gives me an excuse to see my sons new place)
Here in the Peoples Republic of NJ we have to go through an FFL, so this gun is registered to me here.
Is a bill of sale enough ?

Says ok.. NRA

as said your asking the wrong people. [ arm chair lawyers] might want to check your state. if the gun is REGISTERED to you what do you need when they come and ask you where it is. is a bill of sale enough? anyone can write one of those. i would check with n.j. state police. C.Y.A.

Lol I missed the NJ part

If you needed an ffl to get it and it's registered. That sucks.. I would go threw ffl to transfer sell it.

I've gone threw it for real firearms. $50 at the time to have the store do it. They dropped it off at the store and I went and picked it up.

When they come and ask, you tell them to kick rocks!!!

There's a forum here that's all on the law, they talk about that basically. Lmao it's probably the worst place for info. You get vague no answers and call a lawer... search feature works you know.

Hey look it up bub!

And it's a forum with a law section for these questions. Don't ask. Lol

How about this Armchair barristers...if you leave a State such as Nj does the registration of a particular item and what it encompasses follow you to another State? yes. If you were to sell a Modern and it was done through a FFL in your new State that Weapon now comes back to them the Dealer you sold it to. This does not include Black Powder Firearms sales under the same circumstances. Black Powder Firearms sold to you in N.J. will not come back to you even if there are no regulation,s in your new State requiring any kind of transfer to someone whom can own it. In N.J. all that is required is a N.J. Foid card at point of Sale. And that sale record is kept at the dealer,s or point of sale. No 4473, required. So any transfers on any N.J. brought black powder weapons in another State that allows the transfer is Legal . Moderns and 4473,s are a different Story. Some States consider Black powder Firearm,s as such and are subjected to the same regulations as Modern,s. If the sale was reversed then yes it would have to go through a NJ FFL dealer.

Footnote: It would be easier to find the Holy Grail than to find someone who builds muzzleloaders from the ground up in N.J.

OP, I'd suggest you touch bases with one of your local FFLs. State requirements vary, and no one would be able to advise you better than one of your locals.
