I shot 30 rounds out of my brand new Uberti 1851. 22grs of 3f Goex and not a glitch. Slix shot nipples coming in the mail. A good day!
I carded and re wiped with browning solution all the steel parts of an older CVA mountain rifle then started cleaning up the trigger guard for the WR today, deja vu tomorrow on the CVA, finish the TG and start on the butt plate, considering making a toe plate from that extra piece of brass that comes with the WR.

An old tinsmith tool I kept from my lantern making days ....geesh , can't remember the name of it ... Burring machining ! I run it through it and it makes the ridges , then wrap them around a drill bit ... Tedious ...
Cast some roundball and ordered a replacement lock for my 1803 hopefully it stops being a misfire fest with new lock

got the butt plate fitted on the Kentucky. semi polished it. drilled and counter sunk the screw holes. domed some wood screws i of which i have a good supply.
started to shape the butt stock.
got to thinking, yeah it was painful, and realized i have been remiss in shooting these wonderful tools.
dragged the Kibler Colonial out and shot it at 100 yards. great accuracy only handicapped by my poor eye sight. need to shoot it some more with different charges and see if i can shrink the group.
60g swiss fffg under cast .495 ball wrapped in a .018 patch.
not used to the trigger on this Kibler. seemed like a hard pull at first, then i noticed it was very crisp let off. think i like it. love the gun. 4 shots, left is two holes

I examined my new coning tool ordered from Ed Hamberg. Was on the verge of trying it out when we had a kitchen sink plumbing disaster. Hope to try it tomorrow. Will report back.

I did not shoot out fox today. Likes our food company but so timid I cannot stroke her Got her nicely cleaned up with drops and things

I shot another 24 rounds out of my new 1851 navy. That is 54 in two days. I really like the feel of this revolver and I have 25 rbs left probably for tomorrow.

Continued work on the Kebler Colonial today. Raised the grain 3 times on the stock sanded with fresh 320 grit paper. Also sanded,raised the grain on the ramrod and tapered it to fit into the drilled stock hole.

made a bunch of walnut shavings and dust. hard work turning a big piece of wood into thousands of little pieces of wood.
this plank came to me just 1 1/2 inches thick. wasn't sure i could make it work but i seem to have it on the run. following (loosely) Wm. Buchele's Golden age pattern. i may even work up the nerve to do some carving .

As always, love seeing your work!!Completed work on my horn #63. I will be bring this guy to the Contemporary Longrifle Show in August. After that, it will need a home
He's definitely an artist. I'm sure my horns will never be as nice as his but I sure do like seeing his work.
