Found this cutaway "salesman's sample" photo. Might be easier to understand than words when talking about this brand. Not sure if all CVAs have the small screw in bottom of flash channel - what does that do?

Yeah, I think so, too. Holds the drum in since the threads are cut away.

Yea6, I agree. I've replaced several CVA drums and that screw isn't there. Would be impossible to put it there without cutting it away as in the picture.
Yes they installed that screw after the cut to hold the drum in place.
