Found this cutaway "salesman's sample" photo. Might be easier to understand than words when talking about this brand. Not sure if all CVAs have the small screw in bottom of flash channel - what does that do?

I'll crawl my Slim-Fast *ss out on a very skinny branch and suggest it was just to help secure things on that cutaway model.
Yea6, I agree. I've replaced several CVA drums and that screw isn't there. Would be impossible to put it there without cutting it away as in the picture.
 
Just saw that the whole cut away rifle is for sale on gunbroker. Pretty interesting. If only I was drowning in cash I’d make a run at it.
