I haven’t heard anything back. One of the other members here is going to personally check on him.

I bed a 45" , 20/ga. barrel into its cherry stock blank ... Worse part of the job is done !

Got the Breech bedded/ inletted ...and stock , slabbed off bottom under barrel position ...will cut R.R. channel then drill R.R. hole from there ...

So that did not work I’ll make two more breach plugs. However , meanwhile I experimented with a bit more milling and now a new drill tube and I think I have the geometry right Even at 81 it’s still a learning curve , I held the drill tube in place with bonding resign. Next some drilling

Had a great time over the weekend at friendship, Indiana! Weather was absolutely beautiful! This year, my three oldest sons came with me, the youngest stayed home with Mom! This is the first time the boys made it back since spring of 2023! Ethan had a third place metal for his age division at the primitive range! Matthias had a third place medal for his age in the Shawnee harvest hunt woods walk with traditional bow! He even had a higher score than the three older shooters pictured with him!
This year they had a great time shooting traditional bows again! Matthias had a higher score this year than last time, he’s hoping for another medal! He was also shooting with his very own Osage character bow that he bought with money from selling bow staves! Ethan didn’t do quite as well At the primitive range with his cap lock!:-( He moved up an age division so he had to shoot at the 30 yard targets freehand. He had four out of the five shots on a rabbit sized bear target! My third son Titus shot awesome for a sub youth competition at the primitive range! He got to use a rest! Hoping he gets a metal and maybe wins a free rifle! ;-)
They also got to shoot at trap with black powder shotguns! The two older boys hit thire bird! My third son Titus was struggling just to keep the shotgun pointed the right direction! He will get thier!!
Then our last day the four of us did the Woodwalk! I was using my 45 flintlock and the boys were using 50 Cal percussion!

This was yesturday but went to Friendship with my older brother and took along my 2 yr old son. Didn't do any shooting but did stock up on a few things and window shopped at some nice rifles. My son did pretty good as long as he had a bowl of gold fish to snack on but by 1 he was falling asleep standing up so we headed home after getting a bite to eat.

At last I got the geometry of the nipple hole right , but what a mess. The nipple hole is quite off set. The whole thing has been an utter pane Now I’ll start all over again now I know what I am doing. Back to big lathe

Still filing on the .50 cabellas barrel....it's not filing out. the warning is out now and the 0 from the 50 is a half 0. everything elsr is gone. Played with my USA mountain rifle stock...again. Got out the CVA Kentucky and admired the lines...I like this gun...don't like the cracks in the stock.

Shooting the Navy Arms / Miroku Charleville. Two objectives: 1) more practice with bipod shooting stick, 2) try 0.678 balls. Shooting today was with 80 gr 2F Swiss, dry tow over powder and lubed tow over bare ball.

Shooting sticks practice went well. Tow wadding worked well. 80 gr load worked well.

I only had four of the recommended 0.675 balls left, which was the reason for goal #2. The larger balls loaded and shot fine, but were extremely tight down toward the breech while ramming, which fact puzzles me as to why, and so required extra attention and effort to make sure those loads were completely and properly seated. I didn't notice any differences in POI between the two ball sizes. My conclusion on trying the larger balls is that I will get more of the 0.675 balls as they are easier to firmly seat into the breech.

Success. Rust was only skin deep. Stamping gone. Trying out homemade iron browning. seems to work

Just signed for a package this morning... .36 cal. Happy camper here!

Just finished turning the new breach plugs and my power to the Worksop went out. My wife cleared up all the garden junk and chucked it on the Workshop floor so it’s out of sight women do these things , I need a walking stick to move across this pile of stuff. Don't pay to get angry, such is married life . She’s got 80yards of garden, but “ it would be so nice to get rid of your big shed”

But !!!!But !!!!! Finished I made these longer plugs , I learnt today , you cannot copy the breach plugs of a .36 double ml rifle , so they fit a pair of 28 g shotgun barrels , and one up on my wife, as you know I got a German jager, and not a dish washer, she’s very good at washing up, with occasional help.

Yesterday my guns are in the floor “ I am decorating” I’ll say no more!!! At 78 she don’t look bad, there’s some ugly women out there, but with kind hearts.

A while back I bought a new in the box cva hawken pistol. I decided I wanted to make some changes so I ordered some parts and started to work on it.

Nothing really exciting, but, I ordered a can of mink oil from TOTW…. One of these days I’m gonna take a ride there. Three hour trip though one way…….

Made barrel lugs from some correct sized sheet , after looking every where for the right metal and not finding it at ANY store ! ....found some scrap under the bench .... geesh ... Laid out the lug positions and R.R. pipe positions , marked barrel ....cleaned up spots on barrel ...soldered lugs on barrel ... then inlet lugged barrel back into stock ....drilled barrel pin holes....barrel is pinned in now ...... Mark position of touch hole , mark barrel ...drill hole in the wood so I can keep the lock pan in position as I'm positioning the lock tomorrow ... Move the lock so the front tip of lock is over the web of wood between the barrel and R.R. hole so bolt will go through ... While keeping the pan in position of the T.H. ...
