Had not heard that. Needs double checking. I've been annual member many years, they just finished up their long slog to get 1,000 people to donate $1,000 so the One Million can be held, and the interest used for Club improvements, etc. Let's all double check (e-mail the NMLRA) to see if that's true, there are many who won't renew at that level.

I heard the board voted on it last night. At that price I know a dozen people that won't renew. Also heard the number of vendors was down from the spring shoot. Half of the vendors stalles were closed at the spring shoot.

If true, they're going to lose many members like me, who just want the magazine and will never go to Indiana. To almost DOUBLE membership would be a mistake, and weaken the organization. They'd lose so many members that the increase would be negated. We just had the NRA almost tank, we don't need the NMLRA to tank, too.
It's a hour drive for me. The only match I shoot is the woodswalk. I have one friend that shoots trap and so does his two kids. For him between match fees, powder, and lead It's a 2k week for him.
USPSA/SCSA did the same thing our club is dropping them at the end of this season. We already have shooters that didn't renew last year.
Time will tell if this will make them profitable. The problem I see is if they lose too many members because of this can they get them back by dropping the cost of dues back down.

I was there first weekend. Vendors were down but the big ones were there that sell the majority of the goods. A year ago I had asked a vendor about the difference between the two shoots. It is probably a 60/40 maybe 65/35 volume with majority to the spring shoot. The place looked great, weather threatened but blew over. Was a bit quieter shoot than the spring one this year. Food in the chow hall same great stuff.
So to me the fall shoot is smaller with smaller crowds so a few vendors do not invest in this shoot to attend. If it is your first time attending this is almost the better shoot. Folks can talk more, help more, guide more. It is just a bit more laid back with still all the benefits. Heck a custom builder who chooses to come to the spring but not the fall shoot, what did we miss? A conversation? They are there to show what they can do and get an order in their book. Thats ok but you missed a conversation maybe? They are a vendor but most likely you cannot walk away with anything.

That would be odd considering they had recently been running a discount on membership. $100 for 3 years.
NMLRA should do like NSCA/NSSA and give complimentary memberships to first time attendees.

They are poorly managed. As covid was still shutting things down, they scheduled an event, and took deposits, knowing there was a chance it wouldn't be held. State said no dice. The NMLRA refused to refund any money, saying rules are rules and they have a policy of no refunds ever.
That smacks of gross incompetence at best and outright theft at worst. Unless they have drastically changed leadership and policies, they don't deserve anything from me.

As jdw said, the spring shoot is better attended, at least from what I’ve seen. The kids are out of school so more families can plan vacation time. This fall shoot was the first time I can remember not seeing Muzzleloader magazine in their booth.
Firing lines more crowded at the spring, enjoy the more laid back atmosphere of the fall, but it was hot for this time of year.
I can only imagine the cost of printing and mailing out Muzzleblasts has gone up significantly. Not much ad revenue like other print magazines, let alone the higher quality paper and such. Wouldn’t surprise me if dues increase soon, especially going the paper magazine route. I’ve considered going digital, I’ve got such a pile of printed mags in several disciplines that I need to pare down. I do most of my reading on the pad nowadays.

Individual match/target prices went up $1 this fall, from $4 to $5. I also noticed they started charging a card processing fee, I believe last year, on all powder and merchandise sales, (all the more reason I like to use cash.)
I just joined a few months ago and got info on getting a range certification. I'm trying to get more guys interested in more than just in-line for hunting. I sure hope the members fee doesn't double.

It's true as well as other increases like camping....this from an extremely reliable source.
We attended, in part, both shoots and IMO the numbers appeared to be really down. I hate to see this as I've been a member since the early 1970s. A friend and regular attender from Alabama put it this way....."It's like watching your faithful old dog slowly die".

If true, lose 30% of the membership? Or how about a total reorg? Range operation in friendship just like any of the other charter clubs and host two national shoots.
Then you have the NMLRA for those that do not attend the national shoot. No one goes to virginia to the nra headquarters. How about a two tier dues structure? One Friendship club dues with membership other is membership to the nmlra only say $50 as is now? Or some variation. They have a tiered dues already, digital vs paper for example. Heck you pay $50 to shoot in each of the national shoots already so dues would be $150 or thereabouts.
Again all predicated on an 80% increase in dues if true.

Yep, $50 to register to shoot, another $5 a match, (I shot 10 another $50), plus $30 a night camping fee, (5 nights another $150). So $250 or thereabouts for each shoot, times two (spring and fall) equals $500. Then my $50 yearly dues. Taint cheap.
For reference my local range is NSSF five star rated that I pay a yearly dues of $250. I can access it anytime 24-7, 365 days a year with my gate key, plus unlimited camping with showers. Can only shoot from 8:00 AM till sunset though.

Maybe that was a rumor. Did anyone actually contact the Office to check??
Office is running the shoot. Most are off till tuesday with the shoot ending on sunday. If you know a board member I would contact them for the next week or so.......Maybe that was a rumor. Did anyone actually contact the Office to check??
