Shot my Frontier flintlock this morning. Schuetzen 3fg, 70 grains, .480 ball, .010 patch. Hit lots of 50 yd and 75 yd steel off hand, had a great time. Range all to myself from now until May, like having my own private range. Might set up my little wedge tent next weekend there, get some hot coffee & meat on the fire, and do some more shooting. Nights are down in the 20's now but great time of year to camp.

Hey what’s that white stuff behind you ,if you get a chance shot a picture of castle or corner mountain for me so I can get home sick .

Spent the last 2 days hunting with my fusil for deer. Took one yesterday, but almost missed. 35 yards out and I didn't notice the pinky sized sapling between me and the deer. The shot deflected, hitting back pretty hard, breaking her leg. Friends were near and we recovered the doe, but I was pretty distressed by the situation. I was upset with myself about the shot and not noticing the small sapling.
At the truck, the strap on my shooting bag tore where it is stitched on to the body of the bag. Yes I can fix it, but it was insult to injury.
Today shot the fusil and hammered the target (regaining confidence) and cleaned gear.
In the end, everything worked out for me. Im glad for the chance to hunt and take a deer, glad for friends that helped out in a less than ideal situation, and happy about my shooting today.

Good friends are a blessing!! Glad you were able to recover the deer!!

I feel for you, @Daryl Crawford. It's our aim to have all our shots instantaneous one-shot humane kills, but in the field, unlike at a target range, there is a real risk of vegetation getting in the way of a ball's flight as it travels to our best intended zone. There's some consolation that you were able to bring an end to the accident, not losing the doe to the woods where she may well have suffered for days. Your distress is an indication of sound ethics. Happy hunting in future endeavours.

Cheers, Pete

Nice Rob! What is the black goo?

Found the dreaded rust demon has attacked several guns in one of my safes, so getting busy inspecting and dealing with those affected. Got three done, 24 more to go. WORSE THAN THAT IS POSSUM INVASION !

Thought two tomcats were eating an awful lot. Feed on an elevated spot adjacent to a workbench. Twice parts/tools/etc.'ve been scattered on the floor. Spotted a full-grown possum on my workbench last night. Jumped down, hid behind a gunsafe in a spot nearly impossible to get to. Squirted pepper spray as best I could, but really couldn't get it back far enough. He's been coming/going through a cat door, apparently. Bassett hound must figure the possum is family, for he shows no interest. Tomcats each have wounds - possum fight over cat food? Dunno. Nuts.

Did some work on Jacks tomahawk yesterday, afternoon! Partway through foraging I realized I hadn’t given enough wrought iron for the body! Man! Now I will have to make another one! This one will still be finish at some point!
I really appreciate the size and shape you've produced. That is no camp hatchet, that's a proper melee weapon. We'll done, I'm envious of your vision and skill.
