Gosh. Big time cold front passage here.

When I got up this morning at 0400 it was 46 degrees. The temperature has been falling since. Last time I looked, it was 26 degrees. Heading down to 15 degrees tonight. The cold NW wind is howling and expected to do so all night.

Doesn't look like I'll be doing any squirrel hunting once again for a few days. Chomping at the bit to try out my new cheater sticks. :)

We got our first snow last night. Maybe an inch. I hate snow!! Except I do like to squirrel hunt in an inch or two two days after it’s down and they’ve had a day to make tracks.

Sigh, I can’t get out for a week and a half til deer season ends. I’m champing too.

Watching squirrel hunting on YouTube in the evening doesn’t help!

Definitely understand what you mean. Personally, I like snow. Love to hunt in the snow as well. Sure is easy to see the critters and where they have been.

Late ML season opens here on the 14 through the 22 of this month. So about 8 days remaining to squirrel hunt. Depending on the weather, there's generally few hunters out during the late hunt.

Your squirrel season ends in December Ed? Ours goes to the end of February.

No, ours goes that long as well. I deleted part of a sentence and didn’t catch that part.what I was meaning is I have 8 more days until late ML season and I have to wear that awful orange stuff.

Oh the agony, oh the pain. Me thinks my man card just took a serious hit.
I guess I better get busy making you a tree seat to round out your ensemble. Would you prefer it camo, or stained? 🤣 I'm all seriousness, those sticks will come in handy for ya. Methinks once you sit out back in a lawn chair with those stick and your Crockett shooting walnuts, you'll be grinning like a 15 year old boy looking at the ladies underwear section of a mail order catalog.

Whattya think boys? Next thing we'll know is our good buddy Ed will be shooting a flintlock 🤣

I like hunting in snow if it's powder. When you get the crust on top, that's when I detest it. Couldn't sneak up on a statue in that stuff. I'll be switching to the New Englander 12 gauge after the PA rifle deer season is over.

I'd love to see Ole Ed shooting a flintlock.
That would .ake my day.

Fred, don't hold your breath on that one. Lawdy, I just crossed over to the dark side and I haven't even made it to the woods yet. Now you're wanting me to fall deeper into the abyss.

Camo please, and don't spare the patterns.

Ed, you have Friends on the Dark Side.
You'd be welcomed and Loved .

That would make my day.

There's a flintlock guy genetically imbedded deep down in us - in our DNA. It got in there because it was the primary arm of our ancestors from the mid 16th century snaplocks up until the mid 1800's; 300+ years. It's now part of our instinct, sorta like the enjoyable feeling we get when we get a whiff of something cooking on a campfire - ancient man did that for a long time and we genetically remember it...

I hear ya, Ed, I'm a cap gun guy myself, but I woke up this morning with 3 flintlocks (how in the heck did I let that happen!?!?). See above; it's like Covid, we'll all get it eventually, it's unavoidable.
