I go threw this map every year..

I'm just looking for a couple doe tags and public is fine. somewhere worth a drive that's not that far.

I use to like Maine.

NH I've only seen doe. It's buck only.

VT. Never been there yet.

NY... PA..

I been trying to learn here.

Learn how to fill my tag here.. not need to travel.

Its just I'm not consistent...

If I had camera activity I'd be ok.. so I need more cameras maybe.

Instead of travel.. I put it into cameras.. hang on style tree stands.

The climber only works on good trees... so..

I know squirrels thread.. but I'm board.

I like more cameras idea.

I would have like to put a camera where I was today. I don't bait with the cameras or anything.. I just try to get them in a good spot.

I do Also no longer go in or come out in the dark.. I don't hunt low light anymore. It makes a difference.

that's the way I took it as a joke. put a smile on my face.Reminds me when I bought a fancy double Barrel and my GRANDPA said son u can't hit nothing yet with your single barrel. you just wasting lead. lol. I sure miss him

I use to shoot at some far birds with a .410.. Pheasant..

My grandfather would laugh and ask if I thought that gun was a cannon.

You, sir, are an underachiever. If you have never shot and ate a squirrel, then don't cha think its about time?

Deer are nice and all. Many of us depend on the meat from them for the year. But squirrel hunting is the best there ever was. I highly recommend you give it a try (WITH A TRADITONAL MUZZLELOADER) and see for yourself. If anyone thinks squirrel hunting with a trad ML is easy, then step right up and give it a try.

I think you will like it, Trigger. You certainly will be hooked for life. Its time you open a new chapter in your life and expand your horizons.

BTW, I consider myself a half-way decent deer hunter with all kinds of deer tools. You want to know how I learned how to deer hunt? From squirrel hunting.
Yep. What Ed said.

I did get one of these.. air rifle.

I'll post the picture of it just because....

That's what I have. Or muzzloader Shotgun.

You would know.. it's 800fps .22.. I don't know if it's enough for them. Those squirrels are tuff.. I might need to use the shotgun.
Check the classifieds. Olskool had a .32 Crockett for sale on there. I might know a fella or 2'that own one .to help you get it lined out and shootin deadly😉

Not sure why shooting sticks are considered blasphemy. They’re period correct, at least in usage. Design and materials might not be, but a lot of things I carry are modern day. I’m trying to figure out some for a hunt I’m doing on Friday to use with my shotgun.
Ol Chris was just bustin chops. I don't take anybody on this forum who runs a fella down for what he hunts with or how he hunts when they reference PC, HC, after all, they are scolding us from a computer/smartphone 🤣

But Chris was just givin us $h!t.

My opinion on these sticks..

We're not benching off a gun shack window. Peeing in bottles. Sitting there you know..

Any shooting stick setup is better than that.
Speak for yourself youngin, if my ol broken down self had the opportunity to sit in a box blind in weather in the teens, you're darn tootin I would🤣

Trust me, had I been involved in the making of that movie, killing and eating small game would have definitely been a part of it. I think it would have been cool to show them barking a pine squirrel.

Pine squirrels are pretty darn small, but I was surprised that they actually taste good. Not a whole lot of difference of that of SE gray squirrels. However, I would just about bet that the old mountain men ate a lot of rabbits. A big ole show shoe rabbit can feed a man for a couple of days. I love them.

We dont have Squirrels over here, but plenty of Hares and Rabbits, Wallabys (small mountain kinda Kangaroo) native Possums as well.

Wallaby and Roo are good eating and snares or Traps can catch the smaller game, Wild Fowl particularly Ducks are plentiful in the better rainfall country like where I am; so all in all we're blessed for wild game as you good folk are in the US.

Is not the blind

It's everything.. I probably shouldn't have seen and did what I was doing.

Just a little bait. All the time. To keep it simple..

Baiting would be fine.. if it wasn't too the point of training them to know you.

I even shook the bucket and made noise before tossing it on the ground.. after a while you can call them in.

Bait is even fine..

But only if it was a season... basically it wouldn't be worth trying. The deer take awhile to train..

But ounce there trained.. there good girls. They bring you that buck even.

It's not any different than using a tree to lean up against and I'm sure they used to do that a lot.
Why, I would never consider doing such! No way would I lower myself to such shallow tactics.

That would be considered cheating, don’t cha know. 😁

Ed, I have to admit that at least on my property, I am known and expected to hunt squirrels from one of my trees stands..., if it's good enough for deer why not squirrels? After all, we spend countless hours seeing probably hundreds more squirrels during archery season than we do deer. :)

Still pretty hard to beat sitting down and leaning up against a big old oak tree though. Although that seems to lend itself to wanting to take naps, especially on sunny days.
