Still....no secret handshake. I guess that's why it's called "secret".Drive a stake in the ground, and move slower than the stake. Take two steps, stop, and look at every stick and blade of grass with your binoculars. A deer can hide in the same tiny patch of grass or brush as a rabbit can.
If you go 100 yards in an hour, you are going too fast. In the rut, find a doe in heat, and stay with her. Keep your nose to the wind, or quartering it.
I've killed six bucks laying in their beds with these tricks over the years. Most people can't hunt like that, they are too impatient. I've only been able to teach two people to do it over the years, the rest think they are going to run down a deer.
I hear ya on the creep 'n look method. I've done this with success when I was healthy and could walk. Unfortunately, I cannot walk far on flat surfaces these days, so I'm out there with outdoor power mobility devices. I'm very fortunate that I have those.
But you now have me thinking.......I'll bet I can do the same with the outdoor electric device. I've been hunting this very nice ten point since archery. My impatience cost me archery shots on two different occasions. He's still there as I have pics of him going back to his bedding area at night.
One more day that I can get out in rifle season.....if no luck, there's the post Christmas flintlock season.
Thanks for your post....you have given me an idea!
