ETipp, 100%.
I too am guilty of straying off course.
I also, feel, I am guilty of reply and posting comments with out looking at both side of the coin. I may have interpreted the OP meaning. I do apologize for this.

I love this Squirrel Hunting Thread and would hate to see it go away. I remember when it first started. I looked forward to reading it every day. I learned a good amount from this thread, and had some great laughs.

Thanks for bringing this up.

👍 for Squirrel Hunting The Traditional Way!!!!

Fred
I agree with you. haven't hunted tree rats in a long time but I am wanting to try it traditional. but don't hammer me lol. think if I'm going to eat some tree rats it would be best if I use a muzzle loader scatter gun. lol. dang them things ain't big. I need all the help I can get lol. 😩

Fellas, this is not aimed at anyone specifically. As you know, I am not a moderator. However, I, as well as some others, have been a little concerned about this thread navigating off course a bit too far. My concern is that if it becomes too far off subject that moderator action might result. We have a great squirrel hunting thread going here with some great members. There's tons of great squirrel hunting information within. I would hate to see this thread go away. There's just so much to be learned in this thread about squirrel hunting that benefits us all.

With that said, I too have been guilty of steering off course a little. I do believe that its okay to post a little bit about other critters and other things, but we really should limit it. We should also limit the discussion of unmentionables.

I'm not trying to be a boss nor unfriendly, but I do believe we should cut back posting on things unrelated to squirrel hunting before the mods come in to clean it up. The last thing we need is to become a problem to the moderators.

I agree kinda.

But where is the everything hunting chat..

We're all not hunting just squirrel

We used all. be on one topic like this at one time before. Forum I was on

Everyone says hello and all. What's up. Etc.. this is the only topic close to that kinda I think...

Campfire chat. But I like to talk hunting but it w was everything.

They did shut it down. Everyone left the forum.

I won't Hammer you, I hunted with my muzzleloading scatter guns and will continue. I have a sweet little CVA Brittany double barrel .410 and I'm itching to use it. I will also try my .58 Smoothbore later this year. I will admit that hunting squirrels with a small caliber PRB is very exciting and reward.

So load up up that Muzzleloading Scatter gun and get ya some
"Chicken of the Tree"

Best to ya!!!

You can start a new topic in the hunting section and just keep this one about squirrel hunting.

I'll be using my ML shotgun for squirrel too when season returns here in PA. Be good to be out regardless of what I'm toting.

Yep. Guilty also. I'm going to take a step back.

To be honest..

Squirrel type hunting. I did with a friend who's a Falconer. They good for allot of small game and you can hunt places people can't.

That was fun.

We even trapped a younge hawk ounce.

I've squirrels and stuff hunted as a kid with the bb gun.

Just saying i think its more fun. With the hawk.

To be honest its years with a sponsor and all.
You have to know allot.

He's got an owl now too. I think

Does that count for on topic still.

I plan on heading back out in the morning after some bushy tails. It's been a long week at work and I'm ready to get back out in the woods. I can go back to my 35gr powder load, now that I'm done with deer. Deer season is still in here for another week. So I might end up aggravating some hunters who are still after them, but that's public ground and I try to avoid them if I can.

Anyone hunting them in the mountains? I mean western mountains. Curious if the Aberts squirrels are any good eating? I only know one guy that said he tried eating one & it tasted like a pine tree… yuck! I’m looking forward to getting out with the .32 for some rabbits & squirrels. They can be pretty sporadic in the high country. Plenty of walking and very little shooting.

I got the info.

I think I'm going to get another walker.

I loved that dog and breed. I can use one for squirrels I think.

I had one for just a pet. Had to put him down last year.

That triggers me into this. I don't even care if there any good. I'll feed them to the dog.

I plan on going out Monday when squirrel season reopens in PA. I’ve been getting reports from my son’s family about the black squirrel sightings on their property during deer season. We didn’t have black squirrels where I am from in Ohio (recently moved to PA) so I sure would like to get a black one in my sight.

You'll have to scroll back a number of pages, but I believe it was ETipp talking about hunting squirrels in the Rockies. He said they taste good. I had a buddy from Wyoming who said the piny squirrels he shot tasted like turpentine to him. Shoot a few and report back to us, please. Inquiring minds want to know.
