I’m heading to Arcadia to visit my folks in the end of January 25’. I’d like to find a place to shoot a meat hog. I’ve hunted them before but never in Florida. Anyone have recommendations of where to go? How is hog hunting on state forest land in FL? Are farmers looking or generally openminded to hunters? Appreciate any thoughts

Try contacting the county agent where your folks live and ask him your questions. Most likely he can help on the farmer end.

I am going to be in that area in January as well. I looked online and there is a outfitter in that area. Also, quite a bit of public land.

I have never been in that area before and look forward to any info as well.

Fleener

Here in Missouri, there are no regulations for hogs. The MDC asks hunters not to hunt them on public land, however. They are in an effort to try and trap the critters and say that hunting pressure tends to break up the groups.

The county agent office was nice and took my info to pass around to the office. We shall see. As for hogs being a nuisance in FL, not so sure the state really cares, they make it hard to hunt them on public land unless you plan your trip out many months in advance. Ya can't buy a quota permit this time of year so no hunting on public land without that from what I read

I just Googled hog hunts. I think the meat hog price is good enough.

You can keep looking for hunting opportunities to do some real hunting where you don't know. But for a short visit and a meat hog I'd go and all.

I'd go with who has the best packaging deal. They butcher it all up and all nice..

If your lucky you get one there. And then you get lucky and find one for real.

When your there you can go around plan for next year and find a place.

Getting on private land is very pricey. The farmers have found out people are willing to pay for Hunting land. You can't just go on public land either. Babcock Webb WMA is open for small game and hog in January but only on Friday, Sat, and Sunday. The Alifia is The Alifia River Rendazvous in Homeland about 50 mi North of Arcadia of of 17.

Just searched Florida leases for fun.

Not finding anything in the county.

That's been my favored.. 6 person split 6 member. You can go anytime as much as you want.
if you wanted to bring 1 or 2 friends to help cover cost. Everyone always agree but you vote just in case.

Never been to Florida but it's allot of vacation. Someplaces are like that people know there deer are worth good money. I noticed it's hard for the locals to get lands to hunt because we buy them up.
