The buffalo vest/robe I wear was originally made for an HBO Lewis & Clark series that never got finished. So while it is very well put together from pieces of buffalo hide, and hand sewn with artificial sinew, some of the seams and joints are a little loose. It was made to be photographed and not for long term use. So I spent some time today with a needle/sinew and reinforced all the corners and seams that are stress points. It's made to wear now. :)

Darn thing is super warm too, even at the arctic temps we're having right now.

Made thimbles, underlugs, and lock bolt escutcheons, in addition to ordering a barrel, lock, and other assorted accessories, in preparation for building an iron mounted SW VA style rifle. I am hoping to get the trigger guard and buttplate forged later this week. Still need to make the trigger, trigger plate, and sights. Maybe tomorrow?

Got my lock plate inlet finished last night. One slight bugger up near the bottom rear. Somehow got a little area too big. Otherwise, it’s sitting flat and solid. Hopefully get the gut inlets done tonite. Anybody have a good source for an unplanted steel screw assortment? I’ve found plenty selling one size lots. I would like a tray full of various sizes and lengths.

I filled 96 cap cups and added the fixer. 96?? Yes, I stamped a hundred but there were four culls.

I'll stamped another hundred this afternoon but can't fill them until this first batch is out of the holders. Maybe I'll drill out a couple more holders. Want to have about 500 caps on hand before the shooting season warms up.

Got moose about?
I find a few sheds laying about while I’m bird hunting in the forest floor. Or at least my gun dog does. Not every year, but every couple, I find a couple that the foxes haven’t chewed up too bad. I’ve even found a few that were big enough to make pistol grips. Ive also had to leave a few that broke my heart as they were too far from camp.

Ya gotsta be out there looking when they’re dropping ‘em so you find ‘em before someone else does!
I and a few others look every year and have only found ONE side of a shed ,boreal forest hear my friend very thick and lots of under brush. It’s not for the lack of trying that’s for sure .

Usually, here in Southcentral Alaska, they start dropping them about Christmas time through January. Big racks shed first, and lil rag bulls can hang onto them into March.
