Seems to me you could use the one designed for percussion on a flinter. Just get the one with the correct thread (assuming you have a liner with a common thread) and screw it into the vent liner hole. It would probably work better than the clamp-on type.

As others have said, that is for a percussion gun. I have one of the clamp-on types for flint locks and so far have not been able to use it. I need to saw/file a part of the clamp so the part that goes over the vent will make good contact.

Some of you guys just make too many assumptions...I've been told by someone who uses the clamp type that it can leak so I'm not going to bother with that type.
I'll be using 1/4" x 28 removable vent liners and this will screw right in vent liner seat just as if it was a nipple.

I have two that like this that I use. One is for 1/4 and one isfor 5/16. I put a couple of 1/4 inch nuts on the end in the pot to hold the tube down.
I also have one of the clamp type that I never could get to work very well.

After drawing the solution into the barrel, I really push the ramrod back down fairly hard, forcing the Ballistol/water solution back across the breech face and out the touch-hole with some pressure. Gets things "squeeky-clean" :wink:

As designed they have short comings. Here's what you do to make it work like a dream....
Get rid of the O ring. Take a faucet washer and drill(by hand) halfway thru it so it will press on in place of the O ring. On the other end glue on a piece of soft leather or whatever so you can clamp on the backside with no damage to the wood. Line everything up and snug finger tight and pump away. If you need more weight on the end just wrap some solder around it, as needed.:thumbsup:

Leather or a piece of felt is definitely a good idea! On my flintlocks, the clamp fits directly to the opposite side of the barrel (doesn't contact the wood).
Ooooo. I like the faucet washer idea (and the adhesive mole-skin). I could never get mine tight enough without fear of damaging something to keep from leaking. It's been sitting unused in the bottom of my cleaning box for years. May have to drag it out.
I usually just remove the lock and lay the rifle vent down on old towels with the muzzle held lower than the vent and push wet patches uphill with a towel in my muzzle hand to catch the drips.

:hmm: All of mine, to line up proper needs to be on the wood, including my Roger Sell rifle. 
They got some electronic ignition flintlocks now too, I hear.

I've been using the flint type for years on several different guns and never had a problem with leaks. Mine came with spare o-rings and I still haven't used them up.

I've tried all kind of O rings and combos there of :cursing: . Never was satisified till I tried a faucet washer.
