    Patched Conical Pic

Newhawken: Thank you for replying. It is a 58 cal Ballet. I was attempting to solve the slip fit problem of these bullets. It does do that and additionally brings the group size down to about 2 inches(the group in the picture is 2 and 1/8) at 50 yds. The load is 100 grains loose 777. This...

    58 Green Mountain BBL.

I have seen a number of posts lately on 58 cal GMB. I have about 60 rounds PRB through mine at this time. Off the bench with the issued iron sights it is consistently shooting 3 inches at 100 yds. I can't hold any better than that. My load is a .570 Hornady round ball, 100 grains loose 777...

    Formula for front sight changes

Hello to all: I had a formula for mathmatically determing the front sight height at a particular range. It required you to measure the distance between the front and rear sights and know how high or low you were hitting. It was a very usefull formula to use when filing an existing sight or...

    Twist in Barrel?

Folks: I very much agree with Sam that there is a lot of variance reference what twist will shoot what best. I have just set out to develop a low cost "training load" for a 1:28 NEF sidekick. Amazingly (at least for me), I found that 30 grains of 777 with an over powder patch pushing a .490...

    Shortening Barrel

A friend of mine is toying with the idea of cutting a TC Renegade (50cal 1/48 twist barrel) to 16 or 18 inches. Can anyone speculate on velocity loss?

    pedersoli 50 cal frontier

fatman: Not since I learned to turn the rifle more or less horizontal with the nipple facing down and smack the stock a couple of times. Supposed to shake powder into the nipple channel(?) I believe this works. I am also using musket caps. Not #10 or #11. This may be a factor. Jim

    pedersoli 50 cal frontier

Fatman: I have the same gun in 50 cal, also from Cabelas. 80grs. 777, .495 roundball, .10 dry lube Ballistol patch and a .20 denim over powder patch shoots right at 2 inches at 50 yards for me. Been using it safely for over a year. I use the above load but with 50 grs 777 for plinking. My...
