    barrel browning under way

when all is said and done, what ''finish'' do you use on it. i've heard linseed oil(i have a thing of birch wood casey tru-oil) or bees wax. is one better than the other? do they lend different things to a finish? i have my last(i think) coat on now. and it looks pretty sweet. i really like...

    barrel cleaning effects shooting

shoot some corrisive ammo out of that m1, you'll change your story quick. it creates almost the exact same problems as uncleaned BP guns.

    recommend a flint pistol

it's a T/C ''hawkens''. but it's quickly losing the T/C part. when all is said and done the only thing t/c will be the trigger group.

    recommend a flint pistol

sorta looking for a flint pistol. has to ''look'' good next to a hawken style rifle. hopfully be a .50, to keep things simple with the rifle. first BP pistol so i'd like an assembled gun. anything out that there that fits this?

    barrel browning under way

the way i gather it, they don't want you to ''scrub'' it on. one ''wipe'' from breech to bore, then move to the next flat. i'm 3 coats in, and it's starting to look pretty sweet. i figure one more coat and i'm done with this barrel.

    barrel browning under way

i have 2 coats on now. i actually let the second coat work all night, in fact i just carded it now. getting ready to do another 2 coats. so far i think it looks pretty good. the barrel i'm using isn't a junk barrel, however i really don't care about it. i wanted to get one under my belt before...

    Barn Gun?

there was nothing ''taken'' away from a schimmel. they were stocked in the same maple that the builder would have used for his finer rifles. more than likely a rifled barrel and a fine quality lock. these were the working guns of the every day man. the fancy carving and brass furniture had no...

    Best lock??TC,A+H,Lyman,CVA??

i've ''shoot through'' a tc frizen. heard somewhere the hot ticket was a lyman frizen on the tc lock. i then proceed to shoot through one of them. i'm now on my third or fourth frizen on the same lock. of course that was back when the gun saw upwards of 10shots a day, EVERYDAY for a year and...

    sodium bicarbonate solution...

well, ya'll talked me in to it. as always the drive sucked, but as always i was glad i went. picked up some cold browning, blue stripper, agua fera(sp) some tru-oil and some 0.18 tinking. i should have got some swabs and degreaser, but that's just a reason for another trip.....

    online suppliers

the entire shop is nothing but bp. i don't think they're going anywhere, any time soon. they host an annual gun makers fair, that draws people from all over. i do like the place, but man that drives sucks. i also did alot of dealings with the logcabin shop.

    online suppliers

it's a been awhile since i bought bp stuff.....back before my on line days. i'm now spoiled by the web. how about a list of decent onlines bp shops? i have a real nice shop that i had dealt with in the past...down side is it's an hour drive, one on a sunday afternoon. i lkie dealing with them...

    checking in

it came mostly inletted, but the trigger pull length was left for the builder to cut to their(my)own fit. so to answer, i'm fitting it. i needed to figure what trigger pull length i wanted, then fit the plate to the wood. i work with metal every day, but this wood thing is all new to me.

    checking in

new here, been ''lurking'' a few days checking everything out. sorta have an over load going on, there's so much here to look and read. been out of bp shooting for a few years, just recently started with the urge again. those new fangled repeaters kind of side tracked me away from black powder...
