    getting the breech clean

    I have a M61 Springfield, I keep the barrel clean after I shoot but when I drop the ramrod down the barrel instead of PING I hear a THUD. Is'nt there a breech scraper you can buy to clean down there? Yellowhammer :grin:

    What got you started?

    Back in 1983 I was at a Civil War reenactment and a reenactor let me load and shoot his Enfield, I was 10 at the time. I've been hooked ever since. Yellowhammer :v

    Yes the bug has bitten me, I am sold on Tru Oil "it has made a rather plain stock jump out at you" as one of my friends said. I can't wait to see the result on curly maple. Yellowhammer :grin:

    When I first got my Springfield the bayonet fit perfect but over the years it's gotten loose is there any thing I can do to snug it back up? Yellowhammer :grin:

    I scraped the stock, then whiskered it and boned it then applied five coats of Tru Oil to it... I was very pleased with the Tru Oil, the next project I am going to attempt is a plain Pennslvania rifle. Yellowhammer :v

    I have been refinishing a Hawken flintlock and tried boning the stock and I am happy with the result. My question is there another step, should I coat it with something or leave it as is? yellowhammer

    I agree, I was useing Pyrodex and finally found a place that sells Goex. I can use it reenacting and live fire Pyrodex needs a bullet to work. :grin:
