    P1853 Enfield questions

Hi, Sorry I got the locks confused between the Snider I looked at and the enfield. The P1853 is dated 1862. Apparently the hammer notches are a little weak.

    P1853 Enfield questions

Hi Guys, The muzzleloading bug bit me hard. I just put a deposit down on an P1853 Enfield, dated 1871. I was wondering, how hard is it to work in the Enfield locks? Also, where does one find percussion caps these days? Thanks, Cody

This thread became a lot more interesting while I was gone at work.

Aye, 160gr seems a bit excessive.

    Brown Bess Accuracy Stanadards?

160 grains! Holy moly! Right now I am using 80 grains of Goex FFG and I thought that was substantial.

    Brown Bess Accuracy Stanadards?

Thank you all for your help. Right now I am getting 6-10 inch groups at 50 yards with my Pedersoli. I was just curious as to if the British at the time had some sort of standard such as 5 shots in a 12" target at 100 yards or something along those lines.

    Sea Service Pistols?

Actually, after talking with the fine folks at Blackley, they still have the kits, but are currently in the middle of a move and could send out a kit in late April. My only concern with their kit is carving the wood.

    Sea Service Pistols?

Rifle shoppe has everything minus the belt clip currently for a Sea Service Pistol. Looks like I know what I shall be ordering April 1st

    Sea Service Pistols?

What made me fall in love with the pistol was more the A&E rendition of CS Forester's series, Hornblower though I also enjoyed Master and Commander.

    Sea Service Pistols?

Thank you all for the advice. I think I will just save up an extra couple weeks and either get the Rifle Shoppe kit if they have it or the kit from England.

    Sea Service Pistols?

The kit from Rifle Shoppe looks like it is worth saving for. Are they a good company to deal with?

    Sea Service Pistols?

Are the Indian made pieces of decent construction? I will admit I was a little wary of them being made in India. As far as kits go, I found this one but it is slightly out of my price range for now. http://www.blackleyandson.com/acatalog/Pistol_Kits.html
