any info on the shennadoah by traditions

I've looked at those rifles as well, but have not bought one yet. How do you like that DP brown bess? I would like to get one of those as well, but my want list is bigger than my wallet. I'd certainly like your feedback on that DP brown bess. BlueDuck

    replacement lock

Halftail, do uou shoot round balls or conicals out of your rifle? I'm not getting good accuracy with hornady round balls, but get good accuracy with sabots/TC shockwaves. I've still got some testing to do for sure as I would prefer to shoot round balls....or at least lead conicals. Not enough...

    replacement lock

Halftail, I'm sold! Ill show my ignorance, does the lock attach to the barel in any fasion? Did you have to heat treat the lock at all? Unfortunately I'm in afghanistan for a bit but I'm going to swap out my lock as long as I don't have to attach the lock to the barel. Thanks much for your...

    replacement lock

Halftail, Did you have to modify the stock on your rifle to make it fit? The back of the lock on my Deer Stalker is very round and some of the replacement locks I have seen are tapered and pointy. Thanks for the info...there may be hope. BlueDuck

    Where to find

Guys, Where would I be able to find a replica 1792 contract rifle? I've seen a kit version offered by a vendor, but have been unable to locate a complete/finished rifle. I currently own a Lyman Deer Stalker flintlock and am a bit of a history buff. I'd like to find an example of a 1792 if...

    New to Flintlocks

    New to Flintlocks

Guys, Thanks much for all the great feedback. I’m going to read up on several articles on this site. I never thought to try to reshape my flints using the lock or the bullet starter. I'm back in south AL so it will be another week before I get to get back out to the range. On a side note, as...

    New to Flintlocks

Folks, Over the weekend I shot my new Lyman Custom Deerstalker Flintlock. I bought this rifle several months ago, but I just got the opportunity to shoot the rifle. I used a mix of Arkansas flints, English flints, and some old broken arrow heads that I've picked up around east TN (hey...I was...
