    T/C Hawkens

    The T/C has most likely been that starter rifle for most BP rifle. You see aton of them at Rondy. They are quality rifles, that shoot well enough. I have seen a lot of blanket prizes won with the T/C. I am not familiar with the other rifle.

    Meeks, Already got out the screwdriver set, and the plastic mallet. The inside of the lack, and the triggers looked fine. This gun didn't have dust bunnies on it, more like dust Bufflers' ! :grin:

    Meek, Where yours has the caliber, and number on the barrel by the GRRW, Mine is blank. The S/N, and caliber are on the underside of the barrel. Thanks for all the info ! R Jones

    Meek, That looks like the gun I have, except mine has GRRW on the barrel, and the wood is really nice striped maple. As stated the wood to metal fit is as good, or better then some customs I have seen. A friend in El Paso says it could have been custom made by GRRW. Any links to this company...

    All right Boys!! The barrel is 35 inches long,1 inch across the flats. The # 474 is on the stock below the barrel.This # also appears approx. 1 inch from the hooked breech along with .54 below that. There is a mark that looks like a W in a circle that is set in a square. Makers mark??? Approx. 7...

    Mr. Labonte, You are right on target with your remarks.The Hawk is a very versatile tool. I don't leave home without one. If I were going to carry a axe, it would be a Hudson Bay pattern. :wink:

    How sharpen tamahawk

    jb, I use a 220 grit belt for the initial grind. A spray bottle of water can be used to keep it cool. Finish with a 400 grit belt for a razor edge. :wink:

    When to clean?

    I also use a spit patch in my Hawkens at Rendezvous. and never clean between shots. I do a real good hot water cleaning at night after the matches though.That keeps me ready for the next days shooting.
