    Oil Cloth Pancho

Never thought of noise, because I do move around in some thick NC woods. I might look at some light weight hemp treated. Thanks for your ideas

    Oil Cloth Pancho

Does anyone know where to buy some light weight oil cloth (6-8oz) for making a pancho for hunting. I made a gun case and its very light and easy to pack for a hunt

    leather frizzen cover

Ditto on Roundball and frizzen covers. I leave the leather cover on my frizzen till fully cocked now. My thumb slipped once going to full cock and the rifle was just under my arm pit... and I received a full pan charge in my face. Use a cover when loaded. If you are deer hunting, it only take...

    Patch size for .480 Ball?

That was exactly my problem with the .15 patch... nearly broke off my ramrod. I want to try the .480 on my current 50 cal NC Rifle. But bought the .480 mainly knowing my TVM E.Va w/Dehass barrel will be in my hands very soon. After some experimenting with both barrels I'll send photos of the...

    Patch size for .480 Ball?

Appreciate all the feedback guys...I have plenty of jeans sitting around and will cut some and try. After some range trials, I'll get back to ya. I was trying to load the 490's with a .15 lubed patch and it was a struggle so cut back to a.10 and it was tight but not so that I could not ram it...

    Patch size for .480 Ball?

Just bought some .480 round balls (Hornady) and wanted to ask what patch size to use. Seems fair to say I would need at least a 20 but have not seen any patch sold thicker than that! Usually shoot only .490 but wanted to experiment with thicker patches. Any ideas.

    Virginia Ordered

I know its tough waiting on something as nice as a custom rifle, and 6 mo has been long for myself also. But at this stage we all wouldn't want any builder of our personal rifle to jam it thru so they could make more money or turn out large numbers of guns!! That quality of work is why we are...

    Virginia Ordered

Man thats great to hear. Toni kinda guided me that way, saying that Mark and family had been building barrels since 1969...she said his work is 5 star. Can't wait to run some 487's down the well

    Virginia Ordered

Well Macon, Matt did say that he pulled up four stocks today and was going to contact them. Maybe you are in that pull. Does see odd that I ordered after you...but don't frett, its coming. By the fact that with my fairly plain rifle (two inlays) and no patch box or carving, three weeks I...

    Virginia Ordered

Ha pal, got a call from Matt this morning at TVM and he said my stock wood for my E. Va was just pulled. I placed the order on Jan 25 of this year and I'm fired up to see the finished work. I have a 36" Mark DaHass barrel w/plus P wood, delux siler and all brass finish. Hang in there and...

    Plus +P Grade Maple Stock

Beautiful rifle Roundball, can't argue with that super premium for stunning look. Thanks a bunch for posting a photo and also thanks to Greenmtnboy for the post. Now if I could just bag some of those wild critters you all shot... that would make my day. I'll go with the plus + on this rifle...

    Plus +P Grade Maple Stock

Wow hanshi, thanks for that photo. Beautiful rifle, and just the right amount of curl/stripe. I can live with that stock. I'm convinced that its enough stripe to admire while waiting for deer and plenty to show friends. Thanks to all of you who responded. lead487

    Plus +P Grade Maple Stock

Does anyone out there have a recent photo to post of a curly maple stock in grade plus +P ? I am about to order an Early Va from TVM and think the plain will just be to plain. I have a custom Mt Rifle in premium grade (not TVM) and don't have anything to compare. All I have ever owned is...

    Homemade Cleaning Fluid

Does anyone have a good recipe for cleaning fluid to clean a barrel? One post I read mentioned using a combo of Murphy's Oil Soap and water, since the soap is veggie oil based...but can't find the post? Help lead487

I was almost ready to give up on my flinter

I missed that formula on the amount of powder per barrel length? How would you calculate 11.5 grains of FFF per inch for a 50 cal in 31" and 36" barrel?
