    Poacher

Was in your shoes for the last few hunting seasons and found where several deer had been killed on my property. They even used my land for a toilet on several occasions. This was a delicate situation as my neighbor allowed them to hunt there and I want to purchase this property one day so didn't...

    Short squirrle hunt

Any day squirrel hunting is a great day. We have 2 more weeks of deer hunting left in East Texas and squirrel runs until the end of Febuary. Like you said the woods are quite and empty once deer season ends. Looking forward to some squirrel hunting during the next month.

    Persistence.

Glad for you as I know how it feels when you know you hit one and can't find it. You just proved the point that sticking with it usually ends up with a good ending.

    A soggy ending

Sounds like you gave it your best shot, I'd hunt with you any day. You stuck with it and didn't give up. I bet next year is your year.

    Favorite style of Smoothbore

I have a centermark tulle that I have used for 23 years to take ducks, hogs, squirrels and deer. Its not a fancy weapon but dependable as it gets.

What's all this talk about Turkey Hunting ???

Glad your getting after them, looking forward to a report. We don't have enough birds to worry with in the area of East Texas I hunt so no hunt for me. I could pay 500.00 or more for 2 days in the hill country but think I'll pass and wait for squirrels in May. So it goes in Texas.

    a short happy-sad trek

I think it is fair to say that Spence is to muzzeloading what Fred Bear was to archery. I never tire of reading the mans stories or looking at his pictures. He really knows how to enjoy the woods and wild places. Thanks Spence...you make me want to pick up the squirrel rifle and head to the...

    Gun left loaded

You can do it, but the feather in the vent hole is a good rule to follow. I wouldn't do it in wet weather but under normal conditions I have done it for a week or so with no problem.
