    The blinds I'm hunting out of have trees/bushes ranged appropriately, maybe a decoy set as a marker, etc no matter what kind of gun I'm toting when chasing turkey. Pattern the shotgun, determine your max distance and either become expert at judging it or do some measuring from your blind set...

    Weeell..... the modern response is "use a sabot". Since that won't fly here.... I have to ask, would paper patching provide enough rifling engagement so that a standard hard cast slug could be used?

    As un-modified, 75gr weight Schutzen 3Fg or 7/8oz #5 lead shot based on the two I use :) About half what I need for shot just perfect for powder though.

    1/4" aquarium air line tubing works fine. Can even get 'em to cycle around the cylinder on my Uberti made 1858. But unable to make 'em go pop on any of the 1858 cylinders, either of the 2 CVA rifles I just sold, or either of the new-to-me TC rifles I just got. So yeah... I'd be interested in...

    In reality, he'd notice the AR15s, AKs, FN-FALs, etc. And he'd notice the bolt guns. And then being the cheap guy he'd pick up a Mosin Nagant and a tuna can full of ammo. If nothing else, he can always use it with the bayonet as a tent pole :)

    By definition the crown is just the end face of the barrel - no matter what shape/condition it is in. And I would bet dollars to donuts that any true target rifle will have a nicely done even crown on it. A bad crown - uneven, unaligned to the bore, dented dinged and scraped - is detrimental...

    Sling strap suggestions

    Get some long enough thin leather strips and make a very long and big solomon bar knot or similar. Look at "Tying it all together" on youtube for what they do with paracord, all of it can be done with leather strips
