    70's vintage TC Hawken Flintlock

Were those early barrels 1 in 48 twist? Let me know what the bore looks like, I have yet to put together a T/C flint. I may be interested, I have a Hawken stock I could use. I think I purchased from you. Keep Yer Powder Dry

    Stock refinishing?

You will have to shoot it to know if you got a good deal. Seems like a fair price to me, as long as you check the muzzle area and bore. I have seen some nice looking muzzleloaders in pawn shops and flea markets, but the bores were trashed. As far as refinishing I use a stripper(not the topless...

    70's vintage TC Hawken Flintlock

Roundball your the only guy I know of that can find, stumble across, or scrounge those great deals on T/C's. :applause: Nice looking rifle for 30+ years. How does the bore look? It definitely has more drop, but looks like it has a higher comb than later models. When you get the new...

    Chunk Gun Sights

Bookie, With a 1/4 inch high and 3/32 wide front sight what height would you reccomend for the rear sight. I plan on making a milled blank with a 3/8 dovetail, and cutting a notch, just want to be about correct on height. Better to tall, so as to file down than too short. Keep Yer Powder Dry

Gentlemen, Thanks so much for the great information. Bookie I think thats what they call a true "spider"...great shootin. I had thought of another question. What is allowed as far as ram rod thimbles go. I was thinking about not installing any on this underhammer, but a guy in our club...

    Chunk Gun Sights

Looking for some advice from the Chunk Gun builders and shooters. I will be building and shooting a 45cal; 1 1/4 inch; 42 inch long barrel; configured with underhammer lock. What type, size, and height of sights would you experienced chunk gun builders recommend? Keep Yer Powder Dry

    CVA Hawken

Can not tell for sure from the picture, but looks like a T/C Renegade. No patch box and not much drop in the comb, but I can not remember for sure but I think the Rengade does not have a nose cap.

    Causes of delayed ignition

If your rifle does not have a patented breech. Put a scraper on the end of your ramrod and twist it around a few times on the face of the breech plug, then turn your muzzle down to the ground and you will be amazed at what can fall out. The face of the brrech plug can get a lot of build up...

    Causes of delayed ignition

Congrats Hung Load on yer new gun. Keep expermenting with powder and patches. One thing that has not been mentioned here about the delayed ignition problem is build up on the face of the breech plug. I have found that rifles that have a drum in the side of the barrel will build up a cake of...

Great Plains Pistol for deer hunting?

Gentlemen, Please check your state and local laws on pistol hunting. Some states require that a pistol barrel be at least 12 inches long. I believe a Lyman pistol is 9 inches and do stand to be corrected on that. Keep Yer Powder Dry

    1851 Navy revolver

I have a 1851 Navy made by Pietta. It shot high at 15 yards. I just cut the notch on the hammer sight a little deeper and the point of impact came down nicely. Worked for me, it may be easier for you to do that instead of cutting the dovetail. :imo: Doc Will Keep Yer Powder Dry

    Where's rootnuke???

I had left Rootnuke my phone number and had invited him to go to the range with me and had a loaner rifle for him to use. I never heard back from him. :cry:I was looking forward to see how he was progressing with his engraving ball he made. He was making a great deal of improvement with his...

    Hunting Gun Sighted In!!

I went to the range and spent all day last Sunday working on getting my hunting gun ready for the season. T/C Renegade stock, 32 inch Green Mountain 1 inch across the flats drop in barrel in 54 cal. 1-72 twist. I put a set of T/C's low light sights. Looks like the Tru-Glo sights, rear sight has...

    Patch Questions????

Stumpy (Curly), I have read that Dutch Shultz recomends a "dry lube" which I understand is water soluble oil. Mixed with water this becomes a milky looking formula "moose milk". If applied to a patch and the water evaporates over a period of time would that not be considered a "dry patch lube"...
