    Talk about High Priced Powder

Brable, uncle and me were having a conversation about what you just said yesterday. A lot of hunters are looking for a way to extend the hunting season. With work schedules and such, a two week rifle hunting season might mean you only get out a few times. Add another week for muzzleloading...

    Talk about High Priced Powder

There is a 25.00 per box hazmat fee in that 33.00. That is why you need to do is find a few other shooters to go in on the full 25# per carton that can be packed on a single fee. You need to network, ask around at your gun club, look at the posters on the list and note where there location is...

    Black Powder Storage

I generally set it on a shelf in the garage away from things that get hot. If you have a fire bad enough to touch the stuff off, it really isn't going to add much to your troubles. Clutch

    help on flux

Whenever I've used wax fluxes, I've lit it for smoke control. This is when I'm casting for centerfile stuff. Some use kitty litter on top of the pot to keep air from the lead to minimize oxidizing. Casting pure lead, I haven't bothered with fluxing. I've heard sprinking boric acid works...

    stock blank storage

Those pine boards were going to warp most likely whatever you did. As to the blank, I'd paint the ends or coat with parafin and keep the blank in the same humidity and temperature that you will be storing the completed rifle. If problems show up while it is stored, better then than after...

The quarter turn rifling is 1:120 if what I looked up on web is correct. Just mentioning for those on the forum that are wondering what that means. Do you know what the bore diameter is to 3 decimal places? It likely isn't easy to measure since it is seven groove. I noticed that both...

    .62cal Pocket Reloaders

What is nominal size of pipe? Have you thought about using a pipe cap held by friction (not glued) instead of the finger mits? The mitts Look like a condom to me looking at your picture. Another thought would be to use saran wrap and the rubber bands. Probably would not tear as easy as wax...

Can you give dimensional data for the target you are shooting at? Hard to figure out group size from picture. Are you shooting black powder? What F are you using for the bore, what for the prime? Weigh your balls. What is sight radius of your rifle? When stock is firmly held, can you...

£6750 for that rifle? Not sure what the exchange rate is but I bet that is a heap of money. I hope whatever you do you keep an eye towards not reducing its value or collectability. Clutch

    Where to buy Goex?

The hazmat fee is the same on 1# or 25#. Makes small orders too expensive. Maybe you can find a few in your area to do a group buy. That is the way to go. Clutch

    Help with Screws

Grind a screw driver. Put penetrant on screws now while getting screw driver ready. When you get to trying to remove screw, a sharp rap on end of screw driver while holding torque on screw may help. It this doesnt work, you might want to try placing a soldering iron against screw to heat it...

    moose snot and marrow question

That is how mine came out and I used the mix you quoted. Uncle was sure he read it different so I remelted and added more murphy oil soap and it now is more like bore butter. How it works will have to be determined. I guess there is nothing left but to find a decent day out and take it...

    CO2 discharger recommendations?

The only one I saw looked like it was made from a co2 inflator for inflating bicycle tires. Gas leakage isn't an issue since the whole cartridge is generally dumped into a tire. I need to make an adaptor to fit my bike inflator to use as a discharger. Clutch

    moose snot and marrow question

I remelted mine and used 2oz beeswax, 8 oz castor oil, and 4 oz murphy's oil soap. Much closer to that stuff in the squeeze tube. Adding Castor oil as Paul indicated will likely work but the Murphy oil soap is much cheaper. The only thing I am not sure of is how much water content is in...

    moose snot and marrow question

Just talked to uncle and he said to use 1 part beeswax, 2 parts murphy oil soap, 4 parts castor oil. I'm going over to check his batch and then I will try adding more murphy oil soap to the mix to change the ratio. Clutch
