    Your first Vous or renactment

Well, I tell ya, it was a long time ago - September 1973. Reenactment of the Battle of Munfordville, KY, I was 17 years old. I got interested in reenactments from a man next door who had been in the centennial events, and he let me borrow his rig and Zouave and I went to Munfordville. Just...

    assembled my first knife...

Is that Gary Kelley's #1 "drop point long hunter blade?" Very nice work! :front: Greg

    a few rifles

Here ya go, Squire - more Enfields (just can't get enough)! I think I posted this photo before - all P/53 Third Model, a la American War Between the States. From top to bottom: Undated Barnett with "short stock" Undated Barnett Birmingham TOWER 1862 by R. & W. Aston (this one with Civil War...

    Greetings from Germany

Welcome, Paul! I lived nine years in Germany, but I was lucky enough to be able to shoot BP at some of the US Army Rod & Gun Club ranges. Great place to live! Greg

Anyone own a TVM Early Virginia? Have Pics?

Another stock TVM "early Virginia" (this one iron mounted) that I used to own. No frills on this one; I bought it as it was, and later sold it to finance the more "custom" one. (I bought it from Track and these are the Track photos from their site.) Greg

Anyone own a TVM Early Virginia? Have Pics?

Forgot the other side - beveled sideplate that I picked from their choices. Greg

Anyone own a TVM Early Virginia? Have Pics?

Eric, Here ya go! :front: Do I like it? I love it! I'm sure it's not 100% historically correct for any particular setting, but then again I'm not in any 100% historically accurate settings, and just want to shoot it... It's much more accurate than I can be. It's not the stock "early...

    Another "My First Horn"

    Really nice work! :hatsoff: Greg

Shooting bags - do you dress left or right?

I'm righthanded, shoot right side, and carry pouch and horn on the right side. But I suspect that's mostly because I carried a military cartridge box for many more years than I've carried pouch and horn, and that hangs on the right side. Greg

    Hey!!....you make that?

Joe, Amen! I really admire hand-done craftmanship, even if it's not done "perfectly." My poor response to your start has been on here before, but here's the first knife I made. Maybe "put together" would be a better term; I modified but did not make the blade. It was hand-forged for me by...

    An Afghan gun shop

Are these Enfield knockoffs? Looks like a real P/61 rifle and P/53 Third Model rifle-musket (5th and 6th from bottom) to me... what do you think, Squire? Greg

    Come all ye faithful....

Nice horn too! :front: (and beautiful shootin iron) Greg

    Hot and Humid Shooting

Hi Bob, Wonder Patches 1000 Plus pre-cuts, .015 with .490 cast balls. Muzzle coned to where I can thumb-start 'em, and they seem to go down even better in the humidity. I use a range rod most of the time; I wouldn't be able to fire more than 10 rounds at the most with a wooden rod without...

    Hot and Humid Shooting

Bob, Nope, I just use my finger! :: I clean bore and pan etc with TC Number 13 every 15 rounds or so, or when it gets harder to load. I fired 30 rounds without cleaning last weekend, but I was using a fiberglass range rod instead of the hickory rod. Greg

    Hot and Humid Shooting

Humidity? Florida ... It's that time of year around here, too. Pan stays damp after first shot. However, I don't get misfires as long as I wipe the flint and frizzen face each shot. I don't know why, but this gun almost never misfires. That's with the powder standing in the pan for...

    I Love A Parade, Especially If. . .

"NOthing like hikin' a couple miles on pavement w/ Jefferson bootees or mocassins to make you appreciate what the original's had to go through." Not to mention dodging the road apples if the organizers are inconsiderate enough to put the horse soldiers in front of the infantry ... :shake: Greg

    Spanish Moss

You got me thinking, and since there's plenty of Spanish moss around here, I tried it out. It charred up, but fell apart when I picked it up. What little bit I could get to stay against the flint wouldn't catch a spark. Oh well, back to cloth! Greg

    Memorial Day

In Florida, Confederate Memorial day is April 26, so designated by a state statute. I think it's different dates in different states. Peace and honor to all the fallen vets, and to those who came home... Greg (US Army 1976-1997)

How hard should it be to pull a ball?

Thanks, Frog that sounds like a good trick. I will try that next time, cause we all know there WILL be a next time! Greg
