How deadly is a patched round ball?

I agree with the double lung shot. PRB have been taking deer and bigger for hundreds of years. With a good shot dead is dead. if you have the skill to know where to place an arrow you are set to go. Same area

    Received my Kit

Mike, The ramrod measures 6/16 inch diameter this metal piece is 1 and 3/4 inch long with an outside diameter of 5/16 and an inside of 4/16. On one end there is a screw hole that extends approx 9/16 in depth. It must be a tip. the only thing I cannot figure out is if I shave the ramrod down to...

    Received my Kit

I received my Chambers kit today. I am looking through the pieces to identify all the parts. After referencing the parts against the books I think I have things figured out. The one thing I don't understand is the piece that has a thread hole on the end I presume is the end piece to the ram rod...

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I bought Chambers dvd, I have the Gunsmith of Grenville County and the Art of Building the Pennsylvania Longrifle. First attempt (scared)

Well I finally made my decision and purchased a Chambers York rifle kit in .45 Swamped barrel and I went with the upgraded maple with no patchbox, based on their recommendation to show off the maple Now I am terrified that I spent all this money and I am going to ruin it. Because I will touch...

    custom kits

I agree with J.D. Either you are going to have to buy a mass produced rifle with all the work done or pay one of the craftsman to build what you want $$$. Have you thought about doing some of the work yourself? If so then the prevailing thought process is to go Chambers

    Felt like I was cheating!

I hunt archery as well a rifle and ML. I have not taken my ML out during the rifle season but plan to next year. To me my firearms are tools and as such I have the right ones for the right jobs. Even if I do not need tham at the moment
