    Mink Oil

I'll try the ToW brand when I place my order. I am using Mermac right now. Came from a tack shop, and it is very good. 100% mink oil. http://www.mermacminkoil.com/faq.htm#Made

    Mink Oil

I'm not sure if it's me or if my barrel is starting to season some, but I switched to mink oil, after a friend told me about it on my patches. My patterns seemed to tighten up some.I really didn't notice much difference when I cleaned the barrel, so it didn't make it cleaner. I had some for...

    TC Hawken Replacement Barrel

They told me that on the phone. Said most folks were now making in-lines, and not much call for their barrels. It's a shame.

The gentleman was very nice gave me several names and umbers, TOW, and a couple others were no goes, then I called the nice folks...

    Thompson center barrels

Not sure who made them, but the half octo. and half round was on a White Mountain carbine. Good little gun for the mountains in thick cover as it was shorter.

    Ghost ring sights, any thoughts?

Thanks everyone, this place is great for information. I think I'll give them a try. I now just have the standard sights with some paint on them so I have dots to line up.

Finally got to do some shooting!

Oh sorry, at 60 yards, 3 shot groups were almost touching, I think part of it is me. being a new barrel I think it will get better with time. Next time I will take some pictures of my targets. It was just nice to get out, and to spend some time on the range made it a great day.

Finally got to do some shooting!

I posted about my new green Mountain barrel for my T/C Hawkens. I tinkered with it some, and it seems 75 grains with Jim Shocky Gold 2F .490 ball and a .018 pillow ticking patch is what it seems to like best. I used mink oil for a lube. That 32" barrel like this one.I'm only shooting 60 yards as...

    New Green Mountain barrel question

I use a .490 ball, .18 pillow ticking and have been using bore butter for years as a lube. I shoot 80 grains of Jim Shockey’s Gold 2F G powder. My new barrel is the 32" 1 in 70 twist ICB barrel for the Hawkens, it's supposed to be just for patched round balls and that came from the dealer and...

    New Green Mountain barrel question

I should have explained myself better thank you for your responses. They said you shouldn't use them period, but I use bore butter to lube patches, and to wipe barrel inside after cleaning. They said use good oil in barrel, and they recommended lard or something like it for lube on patches. I...

    New Green Mountain barrel question

I asked green Mountain and they said no "Wonder Lube" or "Bore Butter" the lady I talked with couldn't tell me why. Can anybody tell me why they say no wonder lube or bore butter. A dealer said it was only because some people didn't know how to clean a barrel and there was actually nothing wrong...
