    First Knife

Thanks Crockett, I got the Vegetable tanned leather from a supplier here in Texas, and it was so easy to work with I copied a cartrige pouch and holster for my 1858 Remi while I was still inspired. :rotf: Thanks again for the comments, --John R.

    Pedersoli Flintlock Kentucky Pistol

I bought all of the 'Extra' parts from Track of the Wolf. The best thing, is just to go on their web-site and look at what they have. Pretty much everything was listed for 'Kentucky' style pistols. I added a new trigger guard, buttcap, front sight in nickel silver, the rear ramrod tube...

    First Knife

I see so many beautiful creations here I hesitate to show my first knife, but I really enjoyed the process. The blade was gifted to me by a friend. The guard was a strip of steel in my shop. The brass piece between the grip and the blade was fashioned from a brass 'nut' off of a propane...

    1st single shot percussion pistol?

Here's one of the Traditions Kentucky .50Cal pistols that I 'defarbed' and added a few extras. For reference I've included a photo of how it came out of the box. One of the pictures also has a little derringer that I built as well. Customizing them is a lot of fun and you can do as much...

    '1/4 scale' six pounder

No, he's getting the tubes from a third party and I'm not sure where. --John R.

    Pedersoli Flintlock Kentucky Pistol

I built this one from a kit and added a few extra parts to customize it. Lock is untouched and it has always fired every time. Great little pistol. --John R.

    '1/4 scale' six pounder

Yes he fires them...Right now he's finishing up a little Naval gun which I saw in his shop last week. If he's finished with it I'll get a picture next weekend and post it. --John R.

    '1/4 scale' six pounder

Tom is very 'old school' since he has retired, and doesn't wear a watch and doesn't want a cell phone or laptop. :-) Too much excitement while he was working I guess. He's an ole' retired Navy Cmdr. who flew Helos in Vietnam and then flew them another 26 years for the border patrol. Great guy...

    Gonzales flag cannon

It's called the Mason-Dixon Line, Militaria and Civil War Museum on Lafayette Street. He's usually open on Fri, Sat, and Sun, but if you are in town during the week give him a call...he's in the book and he will be glad to come down and open it up for you. I'm sure he would love to visit...

    '1/4 scale' six pounder

yes...it would be worth your trip to meet Tom and see his museum here in Jefferson. I think he acquired the tube and wheels from a third party, but everything else he fabricated by hand with simple hand tools. He is truly an 'old school' artist/craftsman. Here are some more detail shots of...

    Gonzales flag cannon

Yes...it's likely that the original was probably just a 'signal cannon' to alert the village of indian raids and so forth. With the simple loose straps mounting the tube to the carrage it is certainly not safe to fire with a real load. Tom's gun has solid straps and the tube is securely...

    '1/4 scale' six pounder

Thought some of you might like to see a '1/4 scale' six pounder built by Tom Moss here in Jefferson, Texas. Tom has built a number of cannons of various types through the years. He has a military museum here in town with a lot of civil war pieces. --John R.

    Gonzales flag cannon

We have actually fired steel railroad wheel bearings from this cannon into large round bales of hay at 300 to 400 yards. It's pretty impressive when a ball hits the ground in front of the target and dirt flies everywhere. If left elevated the ball keeps going into the woods behind the...

    Gonzales flag cannon

Here's another shot of the cannon on display in the 'Pioneer Village' at Gonzales during the annual celebration. --John R.

    Lyman GPR AGAIN

Fred, Like yourself I recently finished a GPR kit in .50 Cal and love it. I'm fairly new to BP but found this experience very satisfying. Like yours I carved down the 'fence post' provided in the kit into a stock and browned the hardware. All in all the Lyman was a great experience. --John R.

Looking for advice on pistol kit.

This gun started out as a Pedersoli kit. After quite a bit of carving on the stock and the addition of some parts purchased from Track of the wolf it ended up as a nice 'Kentucky' Have fun...JR

    Gonzales flag cannon

Here are the pictures of a 'full scale' copy of the Gonzales Come and Take It cannon that Tom Moss in jefferson, Texas made, as it was test fired and then at the field where the annual celebration of the battle is done in Gonzales, Texas.

    Double Diamond Logo

Thanks much...are parts still available that will work in these guns? I would like to replace the hammer, bolt, and hand if possible.

    Double Diamond Logo

I'm pretty sure it's not Pietta, as they have a single diamond usually with letters inside. This is two diamonds that 'interlock' with no letters. I found an old post going into detail about logos and proof marks but it did not mention this particular one. Thanks

    Double Diamond Logo

I picked up an old Richland Arms 1858 Remington and am curious about who actually made it. It has Italian Proof marks but the only manufacturer's logo looks like double interlocking diamonds followed by a six digit number (maybe serial number). It also looks like it may have been made from a...
