    Need some advice on a Walnut stock with linseed oil applied to it. I have a Walnut smoothbore that came in the white with about five coats of linseed oil on it. I would like to know from the experts what I should do to seal the wood from the elements. Tru Oil, Tung Oil or something else.

    The gap is about the thickness of a piece of paper now. The powder was in the shape or outline of the pan on back side of lock. None was on the bolster this time.

    I trimmed the area in a few places and got it as close as I think I can get it. I shot it yesterday and only had a small trace of residue behind the lock. Can't get any closer or the frizzen will hit the barrel.

    Just measured gap and it measured .008-.010 I was able to get a piece of paper folded in half between the barrel and the lock. Guess I will try the inletting black next. I removed a little wood around the lock and it might have helped it some.

    I have a rifle that has a small gap between the lock plate and the barrel. Shot it for the first time yesterday and noticed some fouling on the back side of the lock while cleaning. Is there anyway to close it up so it's tight against the barrel? Lock is a large Siler.

    First four shots was with original sight height. After that I filed it off some and this is what I have now. Found the patches and they were blown to pieces. Guess I need a heavier patch. With 2F I did not have a patch issue only when I switched to 3F. I that normal for 3F to be a little hotter?

    Just rechecked the front trigger bar and measured it with the lock in and then out. It is definitely hitting the sear arm with the front trigger however, the tension seems to high to release the sear. I even tried to release the lock while removed from the rifle in the half cock position and it...
