    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

@pilot I understand that directional thing. When I wear electronic ear protection at the range I can clearly understand conversations taking place 100 yards away but no clue as to the direction. How does your device work in the wind?

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

We can hunt small game without orange during big game seasons. And bow hunters can hunt without it during archery season even though there is an ml season, a rifle bear season and some limited deer and elk seasons going at the same time. When we hunt small game in a group we usually wear...

    Percussion Lock ID

Hmmmm. RR or JJ? Looks like it could be cleaned up and returned to service, but just a guess. Lock bolt is broken off in the bolster and a missing screw.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

We have a site that we have often camped on over the years. We call it "Mouse Meadow 🐁 " due to the huge numbers of mice that were there one year. We were in a pop up camper and they were getting inside somehow. We had a little border collie with us and every day her food was eaten from her...

    eBay score.

If it's aluminum it's tc but doubt if made by tc. I never saw a maxi hunter mold before. Good find.

    Still reading print media?

I used to buy FF&G off the rack at the supermarket but they no longer carry it. Seems like a lot of hunting/firearms related pubs are no longer there. :(

    Still reading print media?

Similar, outdoor life, sports afield, field and stream. But they got badly watered down. The only magazine I get now is the NRA American Hunter and I can "read" the entire magazine in 20 minutes. The ads in American Hunter for the ATVs bother me. They constantly depict them running...

    What in the underlug?

I get this at Ace. It really simplifies small soldering projects. I soldered an underrib on several half stocks and they have held up just fine.

opinions of best twist rate for 45

You are probably good with just about any of the typical rates for a 45. Maybe there is something to be learned there. The ultimate slow twist is a no twist smooth bore. I don't shoot them but many of our members seem to get pretty good accuracy with them. The "conventional wisdom" applied...

How much do my balls weigh?

Always happy to help 😊 What interested me was what ball size gets to the weight of 40 grains, the typical 22 rimfire.

    Shaping a Powder Horn Spout

Me too!! I have a raw buff horn that's been sitting waiting for a long time. Probably going to be a late winter project. Starting Thanksgiving and through January I've a lot of hunting to do. 😀
