Has anyone tried to make Wedge keys for barrels?

Then how would people know that they were put in wrong? 🙄

    Permadex Anti-Sieze

I’ve not used any anti sieze products on any part of any muzzle loader for the last half century. Many people want to over think this sport.

Converting to half-stock. Worth it for historical value?

I suppose most reenacting is done for the love of the game and the details are what makes it challenging. Building a flintlock from scratch isn’t the best starting point in this case.

Has anyone tried to make Wedge keys for barrels?

I started out doing the drilled pin but now use the pin under the escutcheons way. Much easier and removable. IMG_0529 by Oliver Sudden, on Flickr

    Frizzen Face Texture

The frizzen photo is a Kibler CNC made lock with the flint that Kibler installed in it.

Has anyone tried to make Wedge keys for barrels?

And yes, forge a key like you asked can work.

Or just what you needed. https://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/PartDetail.aspx/964/3/key-lyman-gpr-r

Converting to half-stock. Worth it for historical value?

Having built guns from scratch I would find it easy to rework the full stock in the foreground to a half stock. As reddogge suggests but I would use the nose cap of the rifle and the thimbles you have with the additional of either a wood under rib or a steel one that can be bought. Attachment of...

billiard cannon and lead pool balls

Doing less damage isn’t what I want from a cannon! I use mine to split firewood as shown in this video. :ghostly: Touch to play. 234 by Oliver Sudden, on Flickr

    Frizzen Face Texture

On a fine lock like the Kibler I wouldn’t expect to do anything to the frizzen for a couple of generations. A lesser lock that may come much sooner.

Smooth, no file or sanding marks. Not polished. It will get all the lines it needs by firing.

    Single set trigger

Yes, and tuning and or clean and oil the lock maybe all it needs.

Original percussion hammers - cast, forged, what?

Weld then file is how I’d go about it. The old guys probably forged them then filed to finish. Braze would be less desirable fix.

    Camp chair

I was unaware that they are uncomfortable, at 74 years old and a 50 year old back injury the getting out of one being difficult hasn’t came to my attention yet. Must be using mine wrong. IMG_0282 (2) by Oliver Sudden, on Flickr

    FFg in a .45

Yes, done it many times works fine.

More Misfire Issues - Investarms 54 Caliber

I would not use the nipple pictured regardless if it was new. The off center hole indicates poor quality and should be replaced! Plus all that has been suggested above.

billiard cannon and lead pool balls

Using lead for ball is is the easy way for us less dedicated cannoneers to have shot. I tryed to get zinc at one time but it is more difficult to come by. And yes, Nav everyone NEEDS a cannon!

Woodsrunner Matchbox Lid too tight now

I’d try a scraper, a triangle shape to get into the inside corners.

    3F in a .54?

My 54 shoots perfect with 80-110 grains of 2FG without any “kicker” .
