What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I took the Colonial Lancaster to the range on Sunday.

    Flash size & ignition

You mentioned adjusting the flint so it does not rest on the frizzen at half ****. I think this is an important change. As mentioned above, a flash hole 1:16” in diameter tends to work well. Can you video the lock using slow motion on your phone? This may give you a better idea of what is...

What is a good length for an American longrifle ?

Not bad. I was in the right ballpark. Thanks.

What is a good length for an American longrifle ?

I have a Lancaster-style .50 cal longrifle with a 42" swamped Rice barrel. It balances nicely just behind the inlet pipe. This allows me to bring it quickly to my shoulder and shoot off-hand easily. At 8 lbs, it is easy to carry for extended periods. Based on my limited experience, I would think...

I really like the design of your bag. It looks great and appears to be very functional. About how thick is the complete bag?

Pretty good wood for ‘semi-fancy’ from Jim Kibler!

Kudos to you, @Flint62Smoothie . You are indeed a good friend. You and I both would be all over a sinister Kibler.

Beautiful job. The carving and engraving are gorgeous.

    TOW

I am also happy with Track of the Wolf service and products. Maintaining inventory is a problem for most businesses. I do not care for packages sent USPS because tracking is so poor. Things fall off the face of the Earth only to appear days later.

My first shots ever with a flintlock

Congrats, Kyron. The first black powder shots from a rifle you made is quite memorable. We are looking forward to seeing photos of the rifle when you are finished. During your next range trip, retrieve a few of your fired patches. They provide useful info on how the rifle is performing.

High standard cap and ball found at flea market

Wow. What a beautiful find. I hope they did not try to rip you off with the price.

    Houston, we have a problem...

I had the same problem with my colonial longrifle. Fouling has been greatly reduced by: Swabbing between shots with a little Windex on a patch; Caution, make sure the barrel is thoroughly dry before loading the next round. Ask me how I learned this; Using TOTW mink oil patch lube; and Using...
