    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

So, yesterday evening I decided that this ole boy is finished squirrel hunting until I at least get my first eye repaired. After not being able to see the front sight and/or a squirrel clearly at a close distance, that solidified for me. I refuse to put myself through this any more. Unless the...

You got that right. Ole Cruiser is sharp for sure. I'm guessing he has one of those academic PHD's. I have a PHD that I proudly display on my garage wall.........Post Hole Digger. :)

Very well, Cruiser. Good information. Thank you for posting it. I can see how that could make a difference on vertical shots, or close to vertical. If I get the chance again, I will try to aim a tad high. However, on any other steep angle shot that is not completely vertical, and considering...

Thanks, Greg. I do use AccuWeather. Its on this desktop as well as my cell. I do not know if I have and app or not on my cell. They may be fairly accurate for some locations but they are often wrong here. Sometimes even the radar is inaccurate. One aspect I often see here is the forecast will...

    32 Crockett cleaning headaches

That is exactly the kind of jag I use on my Crocketts. They work well unless I cut the cleaning patches too big or the material is too thick.

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

What are you alls most difficult shots on squirrels (using a RB)? My are: 1. Very steep, vertical angles, like darn near or completely straight up. 2. When squirrels are laying stretched out on a limb. 3. Off handed shots. Now I have killed quite a few in all of those scenarios but I’ve...

Weather reports and squirrel hunting. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have just about as much of a chance of being accurate by sticking my head out the door of a morning and checking the weather rather than trusting what the weather forecaster's say. I do not watch TV so I get my weather...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Oh my gosh. I just checked tracking. It’s now saying en route to its destination in Beijing China. Me thinks some ting wong. J/K, Stan. Be patient, bro. It’s all you can do for now. I actually did check the tracking history of that package and it’s simply mind boggling. Someone definitely...

    Grease hole

No doubt. As hot and humid as it gets here in the SE mountains, the lube would have to be stiff for at least during the summer months. Debris would not be all that much of a concern as long as the lube were thick. Also, it’s pretty darn moist and humid here year round. Not much dust or fine...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Cut a bunch of pillow ticking patches, lubed them, refilled my loading block, then refilled my small lab tubes with pre-measured powder. Hoping to get back to the woods tomorrow for another squirrel hunt.

I reckon you are, indeed, a female magnet. Word gets out that ole Jim is in the hood and they run over your way saying “Pick me, Jim, Pick me”. Meantime, the males are saying “Oh heck no, stay away, least ye want to wind up on tied around a tree at the end of a cord”.

    32 Crockett cleaning headaches

It will seem that way if you're using too thick or too large of cleaning patches. Are you using the factory ramrod?

    32 Crockett cleaning headaches

Mike, I prefer to use a jag and a white cleaning patch. That way I can tell how clean the ML is getting and/or check for rust. Its also great for lubing the bore.
