FOR SALE Remington New Army 44cal Case Set

Jeez, we have a new member and now 9 posts and not one specific to the item he is trying to sell. Just about how to list an ad and some not even related to this ad. We ought to be ashamed.

FOR SALE Remington New Army 44cal Case Set

I don’t see anything wrong with the ad except you need to add the date to your paper with your name. That helps keep a scammer from using someone’s identity or using their ad pictures. Nice looking pistol BTW.

    Casting Help!

The cheapest way to get started is with a Lee mold a source of heat (old Coleman Stove etc.) an iron or steel pan and a large steel spoon. I did it that way for years.

    Casting Help!

To add to Eterry’s post, I used an old gravy ladle or tablespoon instead of making a dipper. I pinched a little spout on the ladle with a pliers. I still use it occasionally when smelting dirty lead.

Cleaning patch stuck at breach end.

I’ve had good luck removing a patch with an undersized bore brush. I put it on the cleaning rod and just turn it clockwise to snag the patch. If it is a large patch I’d use something like a 22 brush so it doesn’t get stuck too.

    SxS Shotgun lock spring HELP!!

Measure the spring and check with Dixie to see if they sell a similar spring. It may take some filing or gentle grinding with a demel on the spring to get it right. Also if the spring is strong enough to pop a cap I would leave it be.

How far down do you clean?

In addition to my above comments, I have a TC Hawken that I build from a kit about 50 years ago and have always removed the nipple to clean unless it was just for a quick wipe when I was shooting again the next day. The nipple threads are still good. When I install the nipple I make sure it is...

How far down do you clean?

I usually remove them to make sure the fire channel is clear and clean. You may be able to clean without removing them.

    Intuitive shooting

As a kid I used to throw cans in the air and shoot them with a BB gun. I also did good on pheasants with a shotgun but occasionally shot them so close there wasn’t much left. Today, it isn’t much of a problem and hits are fewer as my reflexes aren’t what they used to be.

Nipples: To Remove Or Not Remove

They look much more alike in the second photo. I was being cautious.

Nipples: To Remove Or Not Remove

To my eye the two nipples look to have very different threads per inch count.

    CVA Trapper Shotgun Question

The retainer if there was one may be gone. A couple of solutions, get a slightly warped ramrod or tie a thin leather in one of the ramrod pipes. I cut a piece of a milk carton and rolled it to fit in one where the ramrod would fall out

The old adage we forget “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. I don’t mind if someone adds information about an item for sale but criticism is poor form.
