    Stuck Nipple

    I had similar, I sprayed the heck out of it with PB Blaster, then I used a small adjustable wrench and a 2 ft. length of 1 1/4 pipe for a breaker bar. It unscrewed just fine. Luckily, the threads in the drum were in good shape.

    Escutcheon removable

    I have 2 old CVA rifles that have those same little nails holding the escutcheons. One particular rifle stock has some dings and scratches and I've considered refinishing the stock. If and when I get round to it, I'll most likely just work around the escutcheon plates and not try to pull those...

    What is the cleanest burning black powder?

    All black powders are dirty. My experience is that Swiss is the more cleaner burning, followed by Old Ensyford, which isn't available anymore. Hope Goex brings it back someday.

    015, 018, and 020. If I recall, a .490 ball, 018 cotton patch was a good combination. You should try some different thickness patches anyway. Every gun is a bit different.

I can tell you that the barrels are pretty tight and you most likely won't have good luck with any sabot bullets, too hard to load even on a clean barrel.
